Holiday assistance for 2025 includes Thanksgiving baskets and Christmas gifts (for children up to age 18). Baskets are distributed via the MATURA Adams County Outreach Center.

THANKSGIVING BASKETS: Complete an application between (dates to be determined).

CHRISTMAS GIFTS: Applications are taken from (dates to be determined).

Christmas assistance is available through the Angel Tree program, which provides a Christmas dinner food box and toys for children ages 0-12.

For the 2025 Angel Tree program, call to make an appointment after October 20th. Application appointments are made in the first 2 weeks of November.

Provides gifts to foster families by seeking donations or monetary donations used to purchase gifts, for children. Services include gift wrapping and delivering the gifts to the foster parents before Christmas day. Program may also provide gifts to adult residential clients. Will provide letter of thanks for donation for tax purposes. 

Program provides clothing and a toy for each child. Registration also includes a sign-up for a food basket. Deadline to register for aid is November 14, 2025. Can register by going to their office during the food pantry hours and completing a form. Pick-up is December 13, 2025, from 9 am-12 noon.

Offers gifts and food to those in need for the Christmas 2025 holiday. Reach out to the local County Outreach Office for more information regarding holiday help in the area.

Offers a Christmas sit down dinner for anyone in need at the church on December 25, 2025, from 12 pm-2 pm or meal delivery from 11 am-1:30 pm. Individuals and families must call and live the area of West of Edgewood Road, north of Williams Boulevard, east of Linn-Benton County line and south of F Avenue for delivery. 

Delivered meals will not be left if no one answers the door. 

2025 - Offers a free Christmas dinner on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025. Served from 11 am-1:30 pm. To reserve for dine in call before December 19th, 2025. 

For Pick up, we will need your name, time you will pick up the meal/s and the number of meals by December 19th, 2025. Email or call between Tue-Fri 9 am-12 pm. 

Provides a "Toy Store" for families who are unable to buy Christmas presents for their children due to economic conditions. Also are given a ham, potatoes, vegetable, and dessert to prepare Christmas dinner at home.

Register November 17-26, 2025, from 8 am-4 pm, at the Harlem Township, 819 Melbourne Avenue. Must live in Machesney Township.

Offering a drive-thru Thanksgiving and Christmas meal. Then a food basket is offered after the meal, generally distributed the Friday before the holidays. Please call ahead for information on meals.

For Christmas 2025:

As of 11/20/25, no longer accepting applications but community members may still call and see if the office might have extra gift cards to Dollar Fresh and Family Fare grocery stores in Richardson County for food for the families (distributed on December 14th).

Holiday Gift and Food Basket applications may be picked up at the SENCA office in Falls City or Humboldt, starting October 28th, 2024. No applications will be accepted after November 15th at 4 pm.

Offers Toys for Tots sign-ups for children ages 14 and under. Sign-ups are currently open and close on December 1st. Call to apply for the program and use extension 0.

Applications accepted November 3-November 21, 2025. Call to register: (712) 328-8122, Mon-Fri 9 am-11 am and 1 pm-3 pm.

Eligibility Requirements: Picture ID; must be a resident of Southwest Iowa; applicants may apply at one agency only. Agencies coordinate lists of applicants to ensure no duplication.

Thanksgiving meal assistance, applications accepted approximately 2-3 weeks before the holiday.

Christmas food and toys Christmas applications accepted from just after Thanksgiving to approximately 10 days before Christmas.

For eligible families, a holiday food basket will be prepared upon request. Visit in person to register for a food basket.

Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets (Signup Dates are November 1st through November 27th, 2025)

Volunteers, community groups and local businesses donate materials, food, toys and skills for seasonal holiday projects for low-income families. Provides food packages and allowances to purchase clothes, shoes, coats, and household goods.

Projects vary annually and by county office. Community members may contact their county BVCA office for details about local holiday programs.

Offers a community Thanksgiving meal in November. Residents may apply for special food box and toy distributions for Christmas.

Helps provide Christmas gifts for children and senior adults each year. Once registered and accepted, each Angel’s Christmas wish list is shared with donors in the community, who purchase new clothing and toys for the family.

Christmas Eve Day offering a normal breakfast 7 am-9 am, and our normal lunch 11:30 am-12:30 pm. Supper is not served on Wednesdays. Christmas Eve is a Wednesday, and as such, supper will not be served. 

Closed Christmas Day.

2025 Information:

Registration during regular food pantry hours (Mon, Wed, Fri 9 am-11:30 am, 3rd Wed only afternoon pantry 2:30 pm-5 pm) beginning October 1, 2025, until all slots are filled. Choose a Thanksgiving or Christmas basket.

Only open to Food Pantry guests that received services between Jan-Oct 2025!

*12/19/25 Friday ONLY from 9 am-11 am Free Christmas gifts on a first come, first served bases. 

​Each child will receive a minimum of 1 toy and stocking stuffer. Children must be 18 or younger to participate. Children do not need to be present while registering or during pick up. Toys are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Each child may only receive toys once. This is a Toys for Tots event.

Pre-registration is required. Registrants must come into the Bidwell Pantry to sign up for the Holiday Toy Pantry. Registration is between 10 am-4 pm Monday through Friday from November 1, 2025 through November 30, 2025 OR until the event is full.

Helps families sign up for Toys for Tots during the holiday season. Sign-ups dates will be posted on the Facebook page as they open for the 2025 holiday season.
