Thanksgiving and Christmas 2025:

Sign-up for Thanksgiving food box, Christmas food box, and Christmas gifts (for qualifying children) takes place in October only.  Starts Oct 1, 2025, and ends Oct 30, 2025.

Applicants must bring documentation identifying each member of the household.

Provides an application for a holiday wish list for children ages 0-17. Community volunteers try to fulfill the wish lists.

Gifts and a food voucher are available to families with children ages 15 and younger and to seniors age 60+. Food vouchers are available for families with children ages 16+ and to adults without children.

Provides a Community Christmas Store - Children ages birth to fourteen are eligible. Parents pay $5.00 per child to shop. The store will feature NEW clothing, winter apparel, blankets, books and toys for the parents to select from.

Christmas Baskets - Families receive all the ingredients for a traditional holiday meal.

All children, ages birth to twelve, from qualifying families for both programs, will have their names placed on the Angel Tree at Midwest Bank.

Applications are accepted between October 1, 2026, and the day before Thanksgiving 2026.

Program provides clothing and a toy for each child. Registration also includes a sign-up for a food basket. Deadline to register for aid is November 14, 2025. Can register by going to their office during the food pantry hours and completing a form. Pick-up is December 13, 2025, from 9 am-12 noon.

Matches low-income families with organizations that want to adopt a family for Christmas. Families provide a list of the wants/needs of the children. Registration runs November 3-7, 2025, from 10 am-4 pm and on November 8, 2025, from 10 am-2 pm.

Holiday baskets are offered seasonally, provided through local community support. Programs vary by location; call for information.

Provides Christmas 2025 assistance for referred individuals 62 or older and the disabled who may be in need or alone at Christmas.

Applications may be picked up November 1-21, 2025. Must be turned in on or before November 21, 2025.

Offers free clothing, household goods and items, and food to anyone that is looking for some extra help for the holiday. The event will provide a free sit-down meal for the entire family.

Provides holiday foods shoppers can choose to cook a holiday meal. This is not a food basket or meal.

Groceries will be on a first-come, first served basis, December 16th-21st, 2026. There is no registration required. 

Holiday Adoption program.

For Christmas 2025, the deadline to apply for Shelby County is December 1st.

For Monona County, deadline is December 5, 2025, and must be a client receiving services from LIHEAP. Call to make appointment for LIHEAP and then receive application for Holiday Adoption.

This program is especially designed to help families who are facing financial hardships and are unable to afford a Christmas dinner or new toys and warm clothing for their children. The Holiday Adoption Program hopes to address the needs of low-income children and families during the holidays and winter season.

Volunteers, community groups and local businesses donate materials, food, toys and skills for seasonal holiday projects for low-income families. Provides food packages and allowances to purchase clothes, shoes, coats, and household goods.

Projects vary annually and by county office. Community members may contact their county BVCA office for details about local holiday programs.

Provides a seasonal Christmas give-away of food and Christmas presents for children of families in need. Children ages 12 and under receive toys and teens ages 13 through 18 receive a goodie bag.

For Christmas 2025:

Provides wrapped gifts and other treats and goodies for children ages 3-12 residing in the Quad Cities area.

Toys for Tots holiday program, providing gifts for children.

For Christmas 2025:
The Toys for Tots Application is open from October 1-November 17, 2025.

Apply online. You will receive a letter/voucher if you are accepted into the program.

Heartland United Way works in partnership with the US Marine Corp each year to offer the Toys for Tots program. Children must be age 12 or younger and reside in the household.

Christmas assistance is available through the Angel Tree program, which provides a Christmas dinner food box and toys for children ages 0-12.

For the 2025 Angel Tree program, call to make an appointment after October 20th. Application appointments are made in the first 2 weeks of November.

Baskets containing food for a holiday meal and gifts for children ages 16 and under.

Sign Up is the last full week in October, with varying hours.

Distribution of baskets takes place the Wednesday the week prior to Christmas.

THANKSGIVING: Offering Thanksgiving baskets to individuals that shop at the pantry during regular working hours starting November 10th, 2025, cannot guarantee on ham, turkey, chicken, assistance is first come first serve, no pre-registration required
