Benton County Angel Tree provides holiday assistance for Benton County residents infant to age 14. Registrants may call Macey Stout to set up an appointment at (319) 721-6675. Registration runs Oct 28 - Nov 25, 2024.

Local families partner with families in need to provide personalized holiday assistance, potentially including toys/gifts, and meals.

Volunteers, community groups and local businesses donate materials, food, toys and skills for seasonal holiday projects for low-income families. Provides food packages and allowances to purchase clothes, shoes, coats, and household goods.

Projects vary annually and by county office. Community members may contact their county BVCA office for details about local holiday programs.

Provides gifts and a food box for families that live in Jones county that have children 12 years of age and younger that live in their household. Registration deadline is Nov. 1, 2023. To register visit our office to get a form.

(Carroll County) Giving Tree/Toys for Tots forms are available at the Carroll Outreach Office starting October 17th. To be eligible, applicants must have primary custody of the children being signed up, must be a resident of Carroll County, have children ages 14 and under, and be on New Opportunities' programs. If applicant is approved, they will receive a letter specifying when unwrapped gifts may be picked up in December. Forms must be completed and returned to the Outreach Center on or before November 10th.]

Provides gifts and clothing for the Christmas season to children of eligible households in Hancock, Henderson, and McDonough counties.

Christmas Food Box with a complete family dinner and a toy for children 17 or under.

For Christmas 2024, applicants are encouraged to call or visit their local Salvation Army office for details.

Each holiday season, provides Christmas gifts to families in need throughout the community.

Offers gifts and food to those in need for the Christmas 2024 holiday. Reach out to the local County Outreach Office for more information regarding holiday help in the area.

Palo Alto County Outreach may provide holiday food boxes during Thanksgiving 2024 as well, depending on donations.

Grants special requests to individuals in the Lincoln community.

For Christmas 2024, submit nominations on behalf of friends and family who are in need and/or deserve a special favor. 10 families or individuals will be chosen, and wishes will be granted in December.

Application forms available online only. The deadline is November 15th, 2024.

Holiday food baskets at Thanksgiving and Christmas Toy Shopping.

For Thanksgiving & Christmas 2024:

The 2024 Thanksgiving Food Basket Giveaway is held at the PCM Help Center (6800 P Street, Lincoln) on Saturday, 11/23/24. Giving away 500 Thanksgiving meal baskets to those in need, from 9 am-11 am or until supplies run out.


Free Thanksgiving meal at People's City Mission (110 Q Street, Lincoln). Serving a full Thanksgiving meal to not only all of the homeless in Lincoln, but to anyone who would otherwise be alone on Thanksgiving and could use a meal. Serving at 11:30 am-1:30 pm on Thanksgiving Day. Expecting to serve around 700 meals.

Santa's Workshop Christmas Toy Giveaway for families in need will be held at the People's City Mission Help Center (6800 P Street, Lincoln) on Saturday, 12/14/24 from 10:30 am-12:30 pm. Anticipating to help over 5,000 people, including shelter guests and low-income families who shop at the Help Center. Shoppers will need to have a Clarity card to participate. Clarity cards can be obtained at the Help Center each Tuesday from 9-11 am. No appointment necessary.

Gifts and a food voucher are available to families with children ages 15 and younger and to seniors age 60+. Food vouchers are available for families with children ages 16+ and to adults without children.

Provides either a Thanksgiving Basket or a Christmas Basket to families in need during the holiday season.

During the month preceeding Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter, families can receive a turkey (Thanksgiving/Christmas) or turkey or ham (Christmas/Easter). One such item per family per holiday (exceptions might be made for large families).

Four Mile and Pioneer Columbus Recreation Centers will help families sign up for 2024 Toys for Tots during the holiday season. Registration begins Nov. 1, 2024, and goes through Nov 30, 2024. Gift pick-ups are Mon Dec. 16, 2024, from 12 pm- 6 pm; Tue Dec. 17, 2024, from 3 pm-8 pm and Dec. 18, 2024, from 12 pm-6 pm at the center where families register.

Solicits monetary donations to purchase specifically requested toys for less fortunate children in Lincoln, Nebraska, ages 1-13 for Christmas.

Works with social service agencies in Lincoln, Nebraska to qualify families.

The National Guard provides volunteers to help sort applications and distribute toys.

Holiday meals 2025 for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter are served at Bethel Mission's Hope Cafe (1310 6th Avenue).

Thanksgiving meals served at Hope Cafe on Thursday, November 27, 2025, from 12 pm-1 pm (no reservation required to eat at Hope Cafe). Thanksgiving orders for in-home meal delivery are from Nov 3rd - Nov 19th, 2025 at 4:30 pm or until capacity is reached. Call (515) 265-4277 or sign up at www.hopeiowa.org. Christmas meals are delivered to Altoona, Clive, Des Moines, Johnston, Pleasant Hill, Urbandale, West Des Moines and Windsor Heights.

Christmas can be enjoyed at Hope Cafe on Christmas day Thursday, Dec 25, 2025 from 12 pm-1 pm.

Holiday baskets for Thanksgiving and Christmas

For eligible families, a holiday food basket will be prepared upon request. Please call for details for food assistance.

Thanksgiving and Christmas (Signup Dates are November 1st through November 15th, Mon-Fri 9 am-10 am and Wed 4 pm-5:30 pm.

Christmas Shopping day at Greater Love is Tuesday, December 17, 2024, 9 am-2 pm and 4 pm-7 pm.

  • Selections of new clothing, toys and other miscellaneous gift items will be display for ALL Madrid area residents to choose for your Christmas gifts.
  • All items are given at no charge - two shopping bags (provided by Greater Love Ministries) per customer.

For Christmas 2024:

Heart of Christmas is Sat, Dec 7th, from 10 am-11 am, held at the Faith Church in Rock Valley, IA. Provides a Christmas store for children ages 3-11, and parents pay $5 per child to choose and wrap a gift. The store closes at 10:30 am, so parents must arrive before that time.

This also qualifies parents to receive a holiday meal kit, and families who had flood damage to their homes can receive a 4-foot lighted Christmas tree. Children enter the Christmas Carnival area with a variety of games and decorate Christmas cookies. There is an interactive retelling of the Christmas story.

Parents must register by Nov 22. Register online at www.loveincsiouxcounty.org or call (712) 476-5990. No registration needed for Christmas Carnival. (All children must be accompanied by an adult at the event.)

Provides toys at Christmastime for low-income children, as well as a food voucher.

Sign Up opens November 1, 2024 Visit the website and select a county to find signup locations in the area. For those who do not have an e-mail or access to technology, there will be in-person sign up on November 9th at the Salvation Army, 747 Village Green Drive, Mason City IA on the Eastside of Menards.

Christmas food and toy distribution are for families with children from newborn to 12 years old.
