Thanksgiving Baskets: No Thanksgiving baskets this year for 2025. Registration is now closed. 

Christmas Toy Registration (Angel Tree) For families with children 0-15 years old: Registration is online for Christmas 2025. Applicants must register between October 27th through November 30th, Mon-Fri 9:30 am-11:45 am and 1 pm-4 pm.

Offers holiday food boxes on Thanksgiving and Christmas to those in need.

For Christmas 2025:

As of 11/20/25, no longer accepting applications but community members may still call and see if the office might have extra gift cards to Dollar Fresh and Family Fare grocery stores in Richardson County for food for the families (distributed on December 14th).

Holiday Gift and Food Basket applications may be picked up at the SENCA office in Falls City or Humboldt, starting October 28th, 2024. No applications will be accepted after November 15th at 4 pm.

2025

Toys for Tots Nov 1st - Nov 30th through Bond of Unity (New Beginnings Discipleship Ministries). To qualify you only need to complete the form below. Please know that families are only permitted to register at 1 Toys for Tots location. Signing up at more than 1 Toys for Tots site can disqualify you from being able to receive any toys.

Toys will be available to be picked up at 530 NE Broadway (NE46th), Des Moines, IA on Friday, December 12th 5-7pm and Saturday, December 13th 10am - 2pm.

Please select the time and date that works best for you below. Please complete the form using your most current information. In order to be able to serve more families we will not offer a "shopping" opportunity. Toys are prepacked based on the information given below and will be given out in a drive-thru format.

2025 Toys for Tots Registration Form

​ (This form is specifically for the Toys for Tots program which is not affiliated with "adopt a family" programs at other organizations. Specific toys cannot be requested as we have no control over what is being donated by generous members of the general public.)

Offers new gifts to children ages newborn to 12 years old just in time for the holidays every year. When funds allow, gift cards will be given to each family to purchase food for a holiday meal, or we provide food items such as a ham or turkey and canned goods. Apply using the QR code on our Facebook page or by visiting the website from Oct 15 to Dec 10, 2025.

THANKSGIVING: Offering Thanksgiving baskets to individuals that shop at the pantry during regular working hours starting November 10th, 2025, cannot guarantee on ham, turkey, chicken, assistance is first come first serve, no pre-registration required  CHRISTMAS: ** Agency is not sure if they will be offering food assistance for Christmas, call agency for information**

2025 Information:

Offers Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day meals at Crossroads Mission Avenue. Meals start at 1 pm.

Providing a Toys for Tots 2025 signup/distribution site and food baskets. Visit website for more information on dates and times to register. 

Offering 2025 Annual Christmas Day Dinner. Call after December 1st during business hours for reservations and information. 

Provides a Community Christmas Store - Children ages birth to fourteen are eligible. Parents pay $5.00 per child to shop. The store will feature NEW clothing, winter apparel, blankets, books and toys for the parents to select from.

Christmas Baskets - Families receive all the ingredients for a traditional holiday meal.

All children, ages birth to twelve, from qualifying families for both programs, will have their names placed on the Angel Tree at Midwest Bank.

Applications are accepted between October 1, 2026, and the day before Thanksgiving 2026.

Holiday baskets are offered seasonally, provided through local community support. Programs vary by location; call for information.

For Thanksgiving/Christmas 2025:

Holiday Food provides special meals during the holiday season.

Holiday Families provides support to families during the holidays, in partnership with community organizations.

Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets are offered through some Mid-Sioux Opportunity outreach offices, as well as Christmas gift distribution programs. Dates and times vary by location. Families are encouraged to contact their local office for details.

Must register by December 5, 2025, to receive toys.

Offers free clothing, household goods and items, and food to anyone that is looking for some extra help for the holiday. The event will provide a free sit-down meal for the entire family.

Provides an application for a holiday wish list for children ages 0-17. Community volunteers try to fulfill the wish lists.

Toys for Tots holiday program, providing gifts for children. For Christmas 2025: The Toys for Tots Application is open from October 1-November 17, 2025.

Apply online. You will receive a letter/voucher if you are accepted into the program. Heartland United Way works in partnership with the US Marine Corp each year to offer the Toys for Tots program. Children must be age 12 or younger and reside in the household.

Salvation Army Angel Tree Sign-ups will be online, to register, visit the website www.saangeltree.org. Registration for toys begins October 1, 2025 and will end November 15, 2025. If issues occur with the website or if individual doesn't have internet, call for further assistance. Can only sign children up that are ages 12 and under. (Salvation Army Angel Tree Program is a Toys for Tots program).

Holiday Adoption program.  Christmas 2026 information TBD.

[For Christmas 2025, the deadline to apply for Shelby County is December 1st.

For Monona County, deadline is December 5, 2025, and must be a client receiving services from LIHEAP. Call to make appointment for LIHEAP and then receive application for Holiday Adoption.

This program is especially designed to help families who are facing financial hardships and are unable to afford a Christmas dinner or new toys and warm clothing for their children. The Holiday Adoption Program hopes to address the needs of low-income children and families during the holidays and winter season.]

2025

Offering Christmas baskets on December 16th, 2025, at 10 am-11 am.

Provides holiday food assistance to those in need.

Thanksgiving 2025 bonus items will be offered during regular shopping hours to registered clients during the month of November.

Christmas 2025 assistance available with traditional Christmas Meal Box and Christmas Gifts for Kids to registered clients in December. December Blessings registration begins on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. Deadline ends on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.

Pickup is Friday, December 12, 2025

To qualify:

If client has used this pantry's services for the last three months and resides in the Waukee School District and has recently provided a proof of residency and identification for each person in their household, they may already be qualified; please complete an online application. If this is the first time applying for assistance or client's information in WayPoint Resources system is not current, client must bring required documents to the WayPoint Resources office during food pantry hours within 10 days of submitting an application.

If client already applied at another agency:

If client has been approved or expects to be approved with another agency for their holiday program, client will be disqualified from this program. This includes, but is not limited to, West Des Moines Human Services, Toys for Tots, Shop with a Cop, Angel Tree Programs and other food or gift giveaway programs.

**Applicants are not qualified for the program until identification for each person, and proof of residency is confirmed.

Once approved, applicants will receive an email confirmation with pick up instructions, including date and time. If applicant has not received an email confirmation, please contact WayPoint Resources at [email protected] or (515) 987-5523. Please bring a photo ID in order to receive dinner boxes and gifts.

If client cannot make the assigned date and time for pick up, another family member or friend can pick up on their behalf. Please call and let WayPoint Resources know who has permission to pick up items, or make other arrangements. If client does not pick up items or make other arrangements for pick-up, their items will be given to families on the waiting list. Failure to pick up may disqualify client's family from future programs.

Christmas food for families and toys for children ages 12 and under.

Christmas 2025:

Parents visit the Salvation Army in Hastings to sign up their families to receive toys and food. Sign-up starts Mon, Nov 3 and ends Tue, November 25.

For 2025:

Community dinner on Thanksgiving Day, 12 pm-3 pm. Call to request delivery.

Sign up for Christmas food boxes and toys for children before December 1, 2025. Visit the Salvation Army at 120 South 7th Street. Applicants must bring driver's license and proof of children in their home (insurance cards, Medicaid Cards, school IDs). Christmas food baskets/toys handed out on December 20, 2025, to those that registered.

Collects toys and distributes them to needy families. Children ages 0-14 are eligible.
