Must register by December 5, 2025, to receive toys.

Offers free clothing, household goods and items, and food to anyone that is looking for some extra help for the holiday. The event will provide a free sit-down meal for the entire family.

Provides food for the entire family at Christmas time and toys for children age 13 and younger. Only available to Northern Champaign County residents. Must provide proof of income for the last 30 days. Proof of address needed for all members of the household (For example, Medicaid card, report card, daycare letter, doctors bill, etc.)

Registration begins November 3-22, 2025, Mon-Fri 10 am-4 pm, Sat 9 am-12 pm. Please visit office and provided necessary documents.


For Christmas 2024:

Christmas gifts for households with minors ages 13-17.

Online applications are from Oct 31-Nov 21. Apply at www.saangeltree.org

Required documents include state ID, proof of address, proof of income, and birth certificates for minors.

Provides Christmas food baskets to families in need.

Matches low-income families with organizations that want to adopt a family for Christmas. Families provide a list of the wants/needs of the children. Registration runs November 3-7, 2025, from 10 am-4 pm and on November 8, 2025, from 10 am-2 pm.

Thanksgiving program provides a food box.

For Thanksgiving 2025, in-person sign-ups are by appointment only. No more requests will be received after October 25.

Applicants must bring photo ID for all adults in the household, proof of birth date for each child, proof of address (current utility bill, mail, etc), proof of all household income. Applicants must apply at one agency only. (Salvation Army compares applicant lists with other agencies.)

For Christmas 2025, the Christmas program offers food boxes for families and/or toys for children; programs are for children ages 0-15 and seniors age 65+.

Beginning Nov 1st through Nov 20th or until capacity is reached. Register at https://saangeltree.org or call (402) 379-4663 for an appointment. If not qualified for Angel Tree, call for information about receiving a Christmas food box.

Holiday Adoption program.

For Christmas 2025, the deadline to apply for Shelby County is December 1st.

For Monona County, deadline is December 5, 2025, and must be a client receiving services from LIHEAP. Call to make appointment for LIHEAP and then receive application for Holiday Adoption.

This program is especially designed to help families who are facing financial hardships and are unable to afford a Christmas dinner or new toys and warm clothing for their children. The Holiday Adoption Program hopes to address the needs of low-income children and families during the holidays and winter season.

Each holiday season, provides Christmas gifts to families in need throughout the community.

2025

Offers gifts and food to those in need for the Christmas 2025 holiday. Reach out to the local County Outreach Office for more information regarding holiday help in the area.

Volunteers, community groups and local businesses donate materials, food, toys and skills for seasonal holiday projects for low-income families. Provides food packages and allowances to purchase clothes, shoes, coats, and household goods.

Projects vary annually and by county office. Community members may contact their county BVCA office for details about local holiday programs.

Thanksgiving baskets and Christmas toy assistance for 2025 dates and times to be determined.

For Christmas 2025:

Families who live in Sarpy County with children (ages 0 to 14) who meet low-income guidelines can apply for assistance with receiving new toys for their children.

Applications will be accepted at the three locations listed below. If unable to visit those locations, applicants may contact Tandra at (402) 593-2347 to schedule an appointment for their application.

No walk-ins are permitted; appointments are required throughout November (from Tuesday to Friday, 9 am to 3 pm). The address for completing an application will be provided when making an appointment.

2025 Registration Locations:

- First Baptist Church (Do not call church for information) - 112 East 23rd Avenue, Bellevue. Thu, Nov 6, from 12 pm-6 pm.

- St. Columbkille Church (Do not call church for information) - Sacred Heart Center, 542 North Jefferson Street, Papillion. Tue, Nov 4, from 9 am-3 pm.

- Bellevue Christian Center (Do not call church for information) - 1400 Harvell Drive, Bellevue. Sat, Nov 1, from 9 am-1 pm.

Documentation required:

- Photo ID for head of household (person applying).

- Proof of address in Sarpy County, dated within the last 30 days; current utility bill preferred (OPPD, MUD, Black Hills Energy), or letter from Nebraska DHHS.

- Proof of ages of children (must have at least 1 child age 14 or under living in the household): children's birth certificates, or current Medicaid card (with birth date), or school enrollment forms.

- Proof of total household income: pay stubs for last 30 days, or Social Security 2025 Benefits Letter, or unemployment letter, or Nebraska DHHS Economic Assistance/Medicaid eligibility letter.

Applicants will know on registration day if they are approved.

THANKSGIVING: Offering Thanksgiving baskets to individuals that shop at the pantry during regular working hours starting November 10th, 2025, cannot guarantee on ham, turkey, chicken, assistance is first come first serve, no pre-registration required

Christmas Dinner boxes are offered to those who have received assistance at the Genoa Food Pantry at least one time during the previous 6 months of the current calendar year. The date of distribution is determined each year, usually set for distribution about a week before Christmas.

For Christmas 2025, pre-register by calling Mary Linden at (402) 750-9249 by November 1, 2025.

Thanksgiving and Christmas 2025:

Sign-up for Thanksgiving food box, Christmas food box, and Christmas gifts (for qualifying children) takes place in October only. Starts Oct 1, 2025, and ends Oct 30, 2025.

Applicants must bring documentation identifying each member of the household.

Provides a "Toy Store" for families who are unable to buy Christmas presents for their children due to economic conditions. Also are given a ham, potatoes, vegetable, and dessert to prepare Christmas dinner at home.

Register November 17-26, 2025, from 8 am-4 pm, at the Harlem Township, 819 Melbourne Avenue. Must live in Machesney Township.

For Thanksgiving 2025:

A Thanksgiving Meal is offered. This can be picked up in the month of December with the monthly food pantry pick-up.

For Christmas 2025:

Offers the Operation Santa program, where qualifying parents can pick out gifts for their children (ages 0-18) at a pop-up shop in December (date to be determined; by appointment only).

Visit the office and fill out an application before the deadline (Nov 22, 2025); parents will then be pre-approved for a time to come and select gifts for their children. Gift options include new and gently used clothing, games, puzzles, etc. Parents also receive a $50 gift card and $50 voucher for each child.

2025 - Offers a free Christmas dinner on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025. Served from 11 am-1:30 pm. To reserve for dine in call before December 19th, 2025.

For Pick up, we will need your name, time you will pick up the meal/s and the number of meals by December 19th, 2025. Email or call between Tue-Fri 9 am-12 pm.

2025 Information:

Registration during regular food pantry hours (Mon, Wed, Fri 9 am-11:30 am, 3rd Wed only afternoon pantry 2:30 pm-5 pm) beginning October 1, 2025, until all slots are filled. Choose a Thanksgiving or Christmas basket.

Offers Toys for Tots sign-ups for children ages 14 and under. Sign-ups are currently open and close on December 1st. Call to apply for the program and use extension 0.

Holiday gift program; services may vary annually.

Single Moms Christmas Dinner offered 5 pm Dec. 6, 2025, at Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center at the Iowa Events Center in downtown Des Moines. Includes a catered meal for single mothers and their children. Activities and programming provided for newborns to age 18. Registration is required and closes December 1, 2025. The list if full for 2025. However, those in need may call to be put on a waiting list. Being put on the waiting list does not guarantee a basket.

Holiday Food Basket Application begin October 1, 2025. Holiday baskets include holiday meal food items and a grocery gift card. Baskets are limited; clients who apply for a food basket from another agency are not eligible. First come, first served. Basket recipients will be notified via postcard or phone of pick-up details.

Application must be completed in-person during Food Pantry hours: Monday & Friday 9 am-12 pm. Families may select either Thanksgiving OR Christmas while supplies last. Please one ONE basket per family per year.
