Offering Christmas baskets on December 16th, 2025, at 10 am-11 am.

Provides an application for a holiday wish list for children ages 0-17. Community volunteers try to fulfill the wish lists.

2025 Information:

Offers Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day meals at Crossroads Mission Avenue. Meals start at 1 pm.

Offers new gifts to children ages newborn to 12 years old just in time for the holidays every year. When funds allow, gift cards will be given to each family to purchase food for a holiday meal, or we provide food items such as a ham or turkey and canned goods.

For Thanksgiving 2025:

A Thanksgiving Meal is offered. This can be picked up in the month of December with the monthly food pantry pick-up.

For Christmas 2025:

Offers the Operation Santa program, where qualifying parents can pick out gifts for their children (ages 0-18) at a pop-up shop in December (date to be determined; by appointment only).

Visit the office and fill out an application before the deadline (Nov 22, 2025); parents will then be pre-approved for a time to come and select gifts for their children. Gift options include new and gently used clothing, games, puzzles, etc. Parents also receive a $50 gift card and $50 voucher for each child.

-- Johnson County - 12/16/2024. All day pickup (8 am-4 pm) of gift cards in Tecumseh office.

-- Pawnee County - 12/18/2024 9AM – 11:30 am and 1 pm-3:30 pm. Pick up of food and gift cards in the Community Room at the Village Apartments.

Offers a Toys for Tots sign ups. Toys for Tot sign-ups held November 1 through December 4, 2025. Can only sign children up that are 14 years old and under. The church will reach back out to registered clients and let them know when and where the pick up will be.

Offers a Toys for Tots sign up through the Church. Child must be 14 years old or under to participate. Can only sign up once for Toys for Tots. Sign up begins October 01, 2025, and stops December 5, 2025. Toy distribution dates begin on November 14, 2025, and ends December 21, 2025.

For Christmas 2025:

The Christmas Store offers presents at affordable prices to families in need.

The store will be open Thu, Dec 11 (6 pm-8 pm), Fri, Dec 12 (9:30 am-8 pm), and Sat, Dec 13 (9:30 am-11 am).

Families select their shopping time at registration.

Applicants must be the legal guardian of each child being registered, and the child must live in the applicant's home.

In-person registration to shop at the store:

Four Mile and Pioneer Columbus Recreation Centers will help families sign up for 2024 Toys for Tots during the holiday season. Registration begins Nov. 1, 2024, and goes through Nov 30, 2024. Gift pick-ups are Mon Dec. 16, 2024, from 12 pm- 6 pm; Tue Dec. 17, 2024, from 3 pm-8 pm and Dec. 18, 2024, from 12 pm-6 pm at the center where families register.

For Christmas 2025:

As of 11/20/25, no longer accepting applications but community members may still call and see if the office might have extra gift cards to Dollar Fresh and Family Fare grocery stores in Richardson County for food for the families (distributed on December 14th).

Holiday Gift and Food Basket applications may be picked up at the SENCA office in Falls City or Humboldt, starting October 28th, 2024. No applications will be accepted after November 15th at 4 pm.

2025

Offers gifts and food to those in need for the Christmas 2025 holiday. Reach out to the local County Outreach Office for more information regarding holiday help in the area.

For Christmas 2025, applicants are encouraged to call their local Salvation Army office for details or signup oline at saangeltree.org.

Provides 2 to 3 toys for children ages 0-17. To be eligible for registration, a form of ID for every child and photo ID for the parent or legal guardian is required. The following ID's are accepted: Social Security Card preferred, birth certificate, passports, Medicaid or insurance cards, school ID cards, or state issued ID. Parent or legal guardian must be present to register children to receive gifts.

For Christmas 2025:

Registration opens Nov 1, 2025.

Provides Christmas Dinner 2025 on Sunday December 21, 2025. Dinner go go boxes will be available for walk-up pick up at the front door from 12 pm-1:30 pm , follow the signs for vehicle pick at the side door on Dorgan Place. Delivery service will start at 11 am.

Please call Brenda at (563) 583-1779, Mon-Thu from 7 am-3:30 pm to order a home delivered meal. Deadline to order is Wednesday December 17, 2025.

2026

Provides holiday foods shoppers can choose to cook a holiday meal. This is not a food basket or meal.

Groceries will be on a first-come, first served basis, December 16th-21st, 2026. There is no registration required. 

Offers seasonal services, including holiday food baskets for Thanksgiving and Christmas, with gift cards for turkey, holiday toys and gifts as supplies last, Easter baskets for youth, and Back-to-school supplies and backpacks for students in August.

Provides assistive technology for blind or visually impaired students to use in their homes.

Makes annual award to Nebraska teacher of the blind and visually impaired.

Offers a scholarship to graduating senior high school students.

Sponsors annual Christmas Party for blind and visually impaired children.

The Toys for Tots Application is open from October 1-November 17, 2025.

Apply online. You will receive a letter/voucher if you are accepted into the program.

Heartland United Way works in partnership with the US Marine Corp each year to offer the Toys for Tots program. Children must be age 12 or younger and reside in the household.

Volunteers, community groups and local businesses donate materials, food, toys and skills for seasonal holiday projects for low-income families. Provides food packages and allowances to purchase clothes, shoes, coats, and household goods.

Projects vary annually and by county office. Community members may contact their county BVCA office for details about local holiday programs.
