For Christmas 2025:

Heart of Christmas is Sat, Dec 6th, from 10 am-11 am, held at the Faith Church in Rock Valley, IA. Provides a Christmas store for children ages 3-11, and parents pay $5 per child to choose and wrap a gift. The store closes at 10:45 am, so parents must arrive before that time.

This also qualifies parents to receive a holiday meal kit. Children enter the Christmas Carnival area with a variety of games and decorate Christmas cookies. There is an interactive retelling of the Christmas story.

Parents must register by Nov 21. Register online at www.loveincsiouxcounty.org, our facebook page, or call (712) 476-5990. No registration needed for Christmas Carnival. (All children must be accompanied by a parent at the event.)

Food pantry.

Giving Tree provides Christmas presents for children.

For Christmas 2025, Giving Tree registration forms are available at the pantry starting Mon, Oct 7, 2025. Same-day application at the pantry is preferred. Deadline to submit forms is Wed, Nov 19.

Provides a holiday shopping experience for children. Children do their own shopping with the help of a volunteer assistant. Gifts and toys available range in price from $1 to $15.

For Christmas 2025, the deadline to apply for Shelby County is December 1st.

For Monona County, deadline is December 5, 2025, and must be a client receiving services from LIHEAP. Call to make appointment for LIHEAP and then receive application for Holiday Adoption.

This program is especially designed to help families who are facing financial hardships and are unable to afford a Christmas dinner or new toys and warm clothing for their children. The Holiday Adoption Program hopes to address the needs of low-income children and families during the holidays and winter season.

For Christmas 2025, applicants are encouraged to call their local Salvation Army office for details or signup oline at saangeltree.org.

In-person Christmas Assistance sign-ups for Toy Shop will be taking place at the Salvation Army on the following days and times in 2025:

- Thu, Nov 6 -- 9 am-3 pm

- Fri, Nov 7 -- 9 am-3 pm

An appointment is not required. Applicant must bring a valid Pottawattamie County ID, ID for all children in the household with printed birth date, and proof of Pottawattamie County residence (lease, utility bill, etc.).

Christmas gifts and food in partnership with county partners.

For Christmas 2025:

As of 11/20/25, no longer accepting applications but community members may still call and see if the office might have extra gift cards to Dollar Fresh and Family Fare grocery stores in Richardson County for food for the families (distributed on December 14th).

Holiday Gift and Food Basket applications may be picked up at the SENCA office in Falls City or Humboldt, starting October 28th, 2024. No applications will be accepted after November 15th at 4 pm.

Offers Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day meals at Crossroads Mission Avenue. Meals start at 1 pm.

Holiday meals 2025 for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter are served at Bethel Mission's Hope Cafe (1310 6th Avenue).

Thanksgiving meals served at Hope Cafe on Thursday, November 27, 2025, from 12 pm-1 pm (no reservation required to eat at Hope Cafe). Thanksgiving orders for in-home meal delivery are from Nov 3rd - Nov 19th, 2025 at 4:30 pm or until capacity is reached. Call (515) 265-4277 or sign up at www.hopeiowa.org. Christmas meal 2025 home delivery can be reserved by calling (515) 265-4277 or online at hopiowa.org. Orders will be taken form Dec 1st ,2025 - Dec 17th, 2025 at 4 pm or until full. Christmas meals are delivered to Altoona, Clive, Des Moines, Johnston, Pleasant Hill, Urbandale, West Des Moines and Windsor Heights.

Christmas can be enjoyed at Hope Cafe on Christmas day Thursday, Dec 25, 2025 from 12 pm-1 pm.

Thanksgiving community meal, served Nov 26, 2025, 11:30 am-1 pm. No registration is required; this is a sit-down, in-person meal.

Call for (319) 364-9131 for assistance if unable to do this. Households with children ages newborn up to 14 (on 12/25) can sign up for toys and a ham. Households without children eligible for toys can sign up for a ham.

Christmas community meal, served Dec 19, 2025, 11:30 am-1:30 pm. No registration required; this is a sit-down, in-person meal.

Toys for Tots - Sign up opens November 3, 2025, online. For those who do not have an email or access to technology may sign up in person on November 17th and 18th. Distribution is at Salvation Army gym, and one parent does the shopping, individuals will get confirmation on date and times on when to come in to shop.

Distribution dates are December 16th, 17th, and the 18th. With a make-up day of December 19th, 2025.

For Christmas 2025, Christmas baskets are being offered at the 1310 White Street location, distributed December 15th, 2025, through December 17th, 2025. Pick-up is from 10 am-3 pm on those days.

Sign-up is in-person only during regular hours. Registration begins December 1st, 2025. Deadline to sign-up is December 12, 2025.

Offers Toys for Tots sign-ups for children ages 14 and under. Sign-ups are currently open and close on December 1st. Call to apply for the program and use extension 0.

Partners with Toys For Tots and Midwest Food Bank to provide toys and a Christmas food box for families/individuals in need.

Offers holiday assistance for parents who are unemployed or underemployed. Gift and food distribution will take place at the Midwest Food Bank, 2031 Warehouse Road, Normal (off of Northtown Road, north of I-55 in Normal).

Registration is online. Starting in mid-October, visit the website or Facebook page to access the form. the form swill jol longer be available one tall spots are filled.

Distribution, Dec 13, 2025 from 8 am-11 am. This will be a drive-in, drive-out event and packages will be loaded in vehicles. Children do not need to be present to receive a gift.

For Thanksgiving and Christmas 2025:

- The pantry will be stocked with holiday items for the 2025 holiday season, Mon-Fri 9 am-11 am.

- On Thanksgiving Morning, there will be an in-house Thanksgiving Meal at the Parish Center from 9 am to 11 am. A traditional Thanksgiving Meal will be served.

- There will be an in-house Christmas ham dinner on the Friday before Christmas in the Parish Center from 9 am to 11 am.

Advocates for people with developmental disabilities and/or intellectual delays and their families, through partnership, leadership, and individual choice; policy advocates raise awareness, increase and improve services and opportunities, and help direct funding into community-based programs.

Annual Christmas Party in December at the Bettendorf Community Center for all special-needs populations.

Scholarships of up to $250 annually for individuals with intellectual delay for leisure activities.

Holiday program offering shoes, mittens, hats and socks for children.

Registration starts in early October and end November 15th, 2025. The event is held Saturday, December 6th, from 9 am-1 pm. Location is 3100 West 4th Street, Sioux City, IA.

There will be no pre-registration, and the event will take walk-ins only. This will be on a first-come, first-served basis and only while supplies last. Shoes will not be given out before or after this event. Child must be present at the event to be fitted with shoes and in kindergarten - 8th grade.

**Toys for Tots applications are closed for this year 2025**

Four Mile and Pioneer Columbus Recreation Centers will help families sign up for 2024 Toys for Tots during the holiday season. Registration begins Nov. 1, 2024, and goes through Nov 30, 2024. Gift pick-ups are Mon Dec. 16, 2024, from 12 pm- 6 pm; Tue Dec. 17, 2024, from 3 pm-8 pm and Dec. 18, 2024, from 12 pm-6 pm at the center where families register.

Volunteers, community groups and local businesses donate materials, food, toys and skills for seasonal holiday projects for low-income families. Provides food packages and allowances to purchase clothes, shoes, coats, and household goods.

Projects vary annually and by county office. Community members may contact their county BVCA office for details about local holiday programs.

Offers new gifts to children ages newborn to 12 years old just in time for the holidays every year. When funds allow, gift cards will be given to each family to purchase food for a holiday meal, or we provide food items such as a ham or turkey and canned goods.

For Christmas 2025:

The Christmas Store offers presents at affordable prices to families in need.

The store will be open Thu, Dec 11 (6 pm-8 pm), Fri, Dec 12 (9:30 am-8 pm), and Sat, Dec 13 (9:30 am-11 am).

Families select their shopping time at registration.

Applicants must be the legal guardian of each child being registered, and the child must live in the applicant's home.
