Provides food baskets at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter.

Empowers low income individuals and families in need with the ingredients to cook a Thanksgiving meal in their own home rather than eating at the Open Door Mission on Thanksgiving Day. This also includes extra groceries to help during the Holiday season when school is out. There will be only 1 Turkey 'N Fixins program per address.

For Thanksgiving 2024:

Beginning November 1st, community members can come to the Timberlake Outreach Center or the Council Bluffs Outreach Center (on the days they are open) and receive a turkey or a ham, along with some other traditional Thanksgiving specific foods as a part of their once a month shopping time. (Only one turkey or one ham per address.)

Program through Nov 27th. Individuals/families can receive Turkey N Fixin's Wednesday-Saturday at the Timberlake Outreach Center, and on Tuesdays only at the Council Bluffs Outreach Center. Individuals/families will need to have a current piece of mail with them when visiting either Outreach Center.

Food pantry with dry goods, meat, dairy, etc. May be able to accommodate other needs.

Offers Thanksgiving food boxes, available on a first come, first served basis.

(Carroll County) Giving Tree/Toys for Tots forms are available at the Carroll Outreach Office starting October 17th. To be eligible, applicants must have primary custody of the children being signed up, must be a resident of Carroll County, have children ages 14 and under, and be on New Opportunities' programs. If applicant is approved, they will receive a letter specifying when unwrapped gifts may be picked up in December. Forms must be completed and returned to the Outreach Center on or before November 10th.]

Thanksgiving Dinner will be provided Thursday, November 28, 2024.

Meals are available for eat-in or delivery by reservation only. Available to Council Bluffs and local Iowa residents.

Reservations are required and must be made by phone between November 1-22, Mon-Fri 9 am-3 pm.

Thanksgiving 2024

Provides a Thanksgiving meal to anyone in need. The facility is handicapped accessible but meals can be delivered to individuals who cannot make it to the restaurant for pick-up (open to anyone). Orders must be called in and are taken until the day before Thanksgiving or they run out.

Deliveries are only made to these zip codes: 50009, 50309, 50310, 50311, 50312, 50313, 50314, 50315, 50316, 50317, 50265, 50320, 50321, 50322 and 50324. Limit of eight meals per household.

Carry-out orders are available and can be picked up on Thanksgiving Day between the hours of 11 am-2 pm. Must be present for the delivery. Deliveries will be dropped off Thanksgiving starting between 9:30 am-10 am. Delivery time can't be determined.

**Answering service will ask for name, address, zip code, phone number, and the number of meals needed.

Holiday assistance for 2025 includes Thanksgiving baskets and Christmas gifts (for children up to age 18). Baskets are distributed via the MATURA Adams County Outreach Center.

A Thanksgiving Meal is offered. This can be picked up in the month of December with the monthly food pantry pick-up.

For Christmas 2025:

Offers the Operation Santa program, where qualifying parents can pick out gifts for their children (ages 0-18) at a pop-up shop in December (date to be determined; by appointment only).

Visit the office and fill out an application before the deadline (Nov 22, 2025); parents will then be pre-approved for a time to come and select gifts for their children. Gift options include new and gently used clothing, games, puzzles, etc. Parents also receive a $50 gift card and $50 voucher for each child.

For Thanksgiving 2025:

A free Thanksgiving meal from the MLK Center is offered to the entire Quad Cities community.

Fri, Nov 21st, 12 pm-5 pm (drive-through only).

Sat, Nov 22nd, 11 am-5 pm (drive-through and 25 meal minimum delivery).

Sun, Nov 23rd, 12 pm-4 pm (dine-in only).

For meals, arrive in the parking lot and tell staff how many meals are needed. Meals include turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing, green beans, corn, cranberry sauce and dessert.

Curbside service is available at the MLK Center while supplies last.

Thanksgiving sign-up starts in Oct - early Nov (once dates are determined). Distribution: Date and time to be determined at the American Legion.

Christmas sign-up is in Oct - early Nov (once dates are determined) (partnering with CRISP - call CRISP 515-462-9400. Households without children can apply through MATURA until (date to be determined). Distribution Date to be determined.

During the month preceeding Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter, families can receive a turkey (Thanksgiving/Christmas) or turkey or ham (Christmas/Easter). One such item per family per holiday (exceptions might be made for large families).

Offers a free meal delivered to older adults, 60 years of age or older (homebound, lonely, or alone) on Thanksgiving Day. Meal consists of turkey, stuffing, potatoes, gravy, green beans, roll, banana, and cookies.

2024 reservations accepted until November 21st. Callers must speak with someone to make a reservation; no voice messages will be accepted. Phone lines are open on weekdays from 9 am-12 pm and 1 pm-4 pm.

Meal deliver occurs on Thu morning, Nov 28. Applicant must be home to receive the meal, no meals will be left at the door. Volunteers prepare and deliver the meals following local regulations and CDC guidelines. Specific delivery times cannot be scheduled. Cannot feed families.

Distributes shopping bags filled with all the fixings needed for a complete Thanksgiving dinner to families with financial need in the community.

For Thanksgiving 2024, the Meal Bag Giveaway is held on Saturday, November 23rd, from 8 am until supplies run out. The event is located at the FaithWorks Pantry, South Entrance, at FaithWestwood.

Provides one Meal Bag per household. Recipient must be present to receive a bag (no proxies). Bags are given out on a first come-first serve basis, so it is recommended to arrive early.
