Thanksgiving program provides a food box.

For Thanksgiving 2024, in-person sign-ups are by appointment only. No more requests will be received after Fri, October 25.

Applicants must bring photo ID for all adults in the household, proof of birth date for each child, proof of address (current utility bill, mail, etc), proof of all household income. Applicants must apply at one agency only. (Salvation Army compares applicant lists with other agencies.)

For Christmas 2024, the Christmas program offers food boxes for families and/or toys for children; programs are for children ages 0-15 and seniors age 65+.

Beginning Nov 1st through Nov 20th or until capacity is reached. Register at https://saangeltree.org or call (402) 379-4663 for an appointment. If not qualified for Angel Tree, call for information about receiving a Christmas food box.

A free traditional Thanksgiving meal is provided the Tuesday before Thanksgiving for those living in Davenport. Meal starts at noon. Raffles are also available for participants.

Thanksgiving Baskets: To receive a Thanksgiving Basket, registration is required from October 10 to November 10, 2024. To register, a photo ID, proof of address (utility bill, lease, etc), and proof of household (medical card, birth certificate, etc) must be submitted. If assistance is needed to register, call Salvation Army.

Christmas Toy Registration (Angel Tree) For families with children 0-15 years old: Registration is online for Christmas 2024. Applicants must register between November 1-December 7. To register, visit the www.saangeltree.org website. If registration assistance is needed, call the Salvation Army.

For Thanksgiving 2023, the community meal is held Thursday, November 23, from 11 am-2 pm.

Visit the website for counties and agencies participating in local holiday assistance programs.

Holiday Food Basket Application begin October 1, 2025. Holiday baskets include holiday meal food items and a grocery gift card. Baskets are limited; clients who apply for a food basket from another agency are not eligible. First come, first served. Basket recipients will be notified via postcard or phone of pick-up details.

Application must be completed in-person during Food Pantry hours: Monday & Friday 9 am-12 pm. Families may select either Thanksgiving OR Christmas while supplies last. Please one ONE basket per family per year.

A free Thanksgiving meal from the MLK Center is offered to the entire Quad Cities community.

Fri, Nov 21st, 12 pm-5 pm (drive-through only).

Sat, Nov 22nd, 11 am-5 pm (drive-through and 25 meal minimum delivery).

Sun, Nov 23rd, 12 pm-4 pm (dine-in only).

For meals, arrive in the parking lot and tell staff how many meals are needed. Meals include turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing, green beans, corn, cranberry sauce and dessert.

Curbside service is available at the MLK Center while supplies last.

Thanksgiving community meal, served Nov 26, 2024, 11:30 am-1 pm. No registration is required; this is a sit-down, in-person meal.

Christmas assistance/toys and ham (in partnership with Toys for Tots). Registration open Oct 28-Nov 15, 2024. Sign up online at sacedarrapids.org, click on Holiday Assistance. Call for (319) 364-9131 for assistance if unable to do this. Households with children ages newborn up to 14 (on 12/25) can sign up for toys and a ham. Households without children eligible for toys can sign up for a ham.

Christmas community meal, served Dec 19, 2024, 11:30 am-1:30 pm. No registration required; this is a sit-down, in-person meal.

Provides special meals during the holiday season and helps families in need for holiday season.

Thanksgiving meals served at Hope Cafe on Thursday, November 23, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. -1 p.m. (no reservation required to eat at Hope Cafe). Thanksgiving orders for in-home meal delivery are from Monday, October 30, 2024, to Wednesday, November 15, 2024, at 4:30 pm or until capacity is reached. Christmas can be enjoyed at Hope Cafe on Christmas day Wed, Dec 25, 2024 from 12 pm-1 pm.

THANKSGIVING: Offering meat packages for Thanksgiving. Must sign up in advance to receive a package and to qualify, must have received services from the Bidwell Food Pantry in November, 2024. Only one meat package per household; options include turkey, ham, or chicken hindquarters.

Registration starts Nov. 1, 2024, or until the event is full. Registration is Monday through Friday 10 am- 4 pm. Not eligible if anyone in the household has received a Thanksgiving service from another DMARC pantry. If you receive a ham or chicken hindquarters, you are NOT eligible for a turkey, too. Valid photo ID for an adult must be presented to pick up ham, chicken, or turkey.


CHRISTMAS: A holiday meat package is available from December 11-22, 2024. Available on a first-come, first-serve basis while supplies last. No appointment needed. Holiday meat packages will be offered with the standard monthly food package. If you received your monthly food package before December 12, you can come to the pantry December 12-22 to receive the meat package.

To qualify, you must receive a food package from the Bidwell Pantry in December 2024. Not eligible if anyone in household has received a Holiday Service from another DMARC pantry. Only one holiday meat per household. You do not need to live in a specific zip code; residents of all counties are welcome.

Holiday baskets for Thanksgiving and Christmas

For eligible families, a holiday food basket will be prepared upon request. Please call for details for food assistance.

Thanksgiving and Christmas (Signup Dates are November 1st through November 15th, Mon-Fri 9 am-10 am and Wed 4 pm-5:30 pm.

Christmas Shopping day at Greater Love is Tuesday, December 17, 2024, 9 am-2 pm and 4 pm-7 pm.

  • Selections of new clothing, toys and other miscellaneous gift items will be display for ALL Madrid area residents to choose for your Christmas gifts.
  • All items are given at no charge - two shopping bags (provided by Greater Love Ministries) per customer.
