Winneshiek County Department of Human Services provides respite care placement and funding for individuals caring for dependent persons. The location for respite care can vary; it may be provided in client's home, in respite vendor's home, or sometimes in a community facility. Respite vendors are thoroughly screened; once approved, they are placed on a list of respire care vendors; matches are then made between those needing help and the vendors on the list .

Senior Care Options program available to older Nebraskans who are considering admission to a nursing home and may be eligible for Medicaid assistance. Clients are screened according to a standardized assessment process developed by the Department of Health and Human Services.

Care Managers arrange for services, which allow older adults to live as independently as possible, for as long as possible.

Housekeeping and supportive services to include grocery shopping, cleaning, laundry, transportation and personal care.

Family Caregiver Support for those caring for an aging adult or grandparents caring for a minor child. Provides information, assistance, support group, respite care, and supplemental services.

Home delivered meals are provided to homebound by reason of illness, disability or isolation. The meals meet 1/3 of the daily dietary recommended needs of adults 60 years and over and the requirements of the Older Americans Act and state and local laws.

Public benefit services, legal assistance, education, Medicare filing, and volunteer training through SHIIP.

Supported Living services: Supports in the community for an individual eligible for developmental disability services. Supported Living means that the individual(s) have control and choice over where and with whom they live. Providers may suggest potential roommates for individuals, but the recommendation must not be based on diagnosis alone but by the individuals' preferences and compatibility.

Extended Home services: offers a residence for no more than two individuals with developmental disabilities, owned or leased by the subcontractor providing supports. The individual, who is his/her own payee or representative payee, pays room and board directly to the subcontractor.

Respite services: Provides intermittent, temporary relief to the usual non-paid caregiver from the continuous support and/or care of the individual. Respite components include supervision, tasks related to the individual's physical and psychological needs, and social/recreational activities and are documented in the IPP.

Day and Residential services: Residential services take place where the individual lives or in the community and are directed at developing, improving, or maintaining the individual's health and personal skills that would typically occur in one's home. Day services are directed at developing, improving, or maintaining skills to maximize employment and inclusion.

Intermittent services to maintain or increase independent living skills. For people who live in their own apartments, staff provide personalized supports including assistance with banking, grocery shopping, medical appointments and accessing their communities. The amount of support is guided in partnership with staff and is documented in the Individual Program Plan. Also provides respite services as an additional support to families. Typically, people served are eligible for Supported Residential Services if they do not require staffing 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
