Responsible for maintenance and preservation of municipal infrastructure. The city maintains over 120 miles of streets, three public parks, the Graceland Cemetery and operates the municipal wastewater plant.

Maintains the parks in Vinton.
Waukon City Park offers horseshoe courts; outdoor swimming pool; sand volleyball courts; 4 large and 5 small shelters with grills, additional grills located throughout the park; three small playgrounds and 1 large playground (Hideaway Park); campground with facilities; hikers trail; and fishing pond. Depending on the weather, an ice skating rink will be open is located at the park for use.

Provides park and recreational services to the residents of Ames. The Department manages 40 parks and offers almost 200 programs and activities throughout the year. Programs include swim lessons, fitness and wellness classes, youth and adult sports, and more. Enjoy activities at one of the facilities which include Homewood Golf Course, Ames/ISU Ice Arena, Furman Aquatic Center, Community Center, and Ames City Auditorium.
