Trained counselors are available to provide mental health support, as well as referrals to both community-based and telehealth providers as needed. Comprehensive Information and Referral

Provides a safe haven through crisis care for children at risk of abuse or neglect. Assists stressed and in-need families facing an unexpected crisis caused by illness, substance abuse, domestic violence, homelessness, and other issues that can overwhelm a parent.

Specialized staff provide nurturing and attentive care to children (ages 0-6). Staff work with the parents or caregivers to help them through the crisis that led them to the Crisis Nursery. The Crisis Nursery Hotline provides telephone support to families who are dealing with a crisis. If a parent needs advice on how to soothe their baby, reassurance they are doing all they can, or even just someone to talk to during a stressful time, they are encouraged to call.

24 hour nationwide hotline providing short-term counseling and crisis intervention to children and families experiencing any type of difficulty in their lives. Provides information about help agencies and programs throughout the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, The Virgin Islands, and Guam.

Website, YourLifeYourVoice.org, offers an online resource for kids/teens where they can communicate with trained counselors four different ways - by text, email, online chat, or by calling the Hotline. The website also offers tips on how to deal with challenging situations, a bulletin board where teens ask questions regarding different topics that are answered by counselors and then posted so others can read and relate, and journal pages where teens can download and print worksheets to help them work through issues and create solutions.

COPING AFTER SUICIDE support group for families and/or friends of suicide victims

FREE COUNSELING and advocacy services for anyone affected by a violent crime or sexual assault (children and adults).

CASE COORDIANTION provided for Child Sexual Abuse Resource Coalition (C-SARC) and Intra-Family Sexual Abuse Program (IFSAP) cases. Volunteers and interns are trained to assist victims by providing crisis intervention, court advocacy, phone counseling and support group facilitation.

VIOLENT CRIME ASSISTANCE PROGRAM provides crisis intervention for victims, witnesses and their families in cases who have suffered emotional or physical trauma resulting from violent crimes. Purpose is to assist the victims and their families through support, counseling, advocacy, and agency liaison; as well as assisting the criminal justice system by helping the victim to become a good witness. Special services available to families of homicide victims.

TEEN SEXUAL ASSAULT GROUP / SIG-NA is a group for teen sexual assault at various high schools, on various days and times. Call for more information.

Access Center is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for admission or other inquiries. When contacting the Access Center by phone or walking in, individuals are first evaluated by a mental health professional who will identify presenting problems. After consultation with a psychiatrist, potential patients will be matched with appropriate care within the hospital's programs or with other community resources.

Access Center offers Psychiatric Crisis/Emergency Assistance. All services through the emergency Access Center are of no cost to the patient or the referring party.

Adult Acute Inpatient Psychiatric Program for ages 18 and up, provides Voluntary Services and Emergency Protective Custody/Involuntary Mental Health Board Committals.

Hope and Recovery Subacute for Adults, ages 18 and up.

Adolescent Acute Inpatient Psychiatric Program for ages 13-18.

Outpatient clinic offers Medication Management and Psychiatric Assessments/Evaluations for adults, adolescents, and children.

24-Hour Crisis Hotline provides support on the phone for people looking for immediate help with an emotional or mental health crisis.

Crisis Evaluation and Stabilization provides short-term care for individuals with mental health and developmental disabilities who need 24-hour supervision for safety during a crisis, without the added trauma of hospitalization. Stabilization includes a crisis evaluation.

Mobile Crisis Response and Outreach services provide on-site, face-to-face mental health services for an individual or family experiencing a mental health crisis. Fayette County Social Services is part of the County Social Services (CSS) region providing services for people with mental illness. People may call or Text the statewide crisis response line, Your Life Iowa, for mental health, drug, alcohol, and gambling related crises including suicidal thoughts. Crisis response services include immediate evaluation and when possible de-escalation and stabilization of the situation. This may include contacting local police for an immediate welfare check or recommending and arranging for the person to be seen in the Veterans Memorial Center emergency room. Emergency room staff may arrange for entry to the Crisis Center in Waterloo for stabilization.

Assists adults and youth who are in a crisis - suicidal, homicidal, and/or psychotic. The Crisis Responder will screen all crisis calls to assess the severity of the problem. If the Crisis Responder identifies the problem as severe, the Crisis Responder will contact the Licensed Mental Health Therapist on call to request a crisis assessment be conducted face to face.

The program is designed to prevent hospitalizations and Emergency Protective Custody by wrapping appropriate services around the client to allow him/her the opportunity to remain in the community.
