Equestrian activities with therapeutic educational and recreational benefits for persons with disabilities.

Offers an Equine-Assisted Activity Learning and Therapy (EAAL/T) program for military Veterans and Service Members at no charge. Skills participants may learn from equine-assisted therapy include emotional regulation, self-confidence, improved communication and relationship skills, mindfulness, and many others.

Offers animal assisted therapy which works to enhance well-being and reduce stress through the bond with animals. This therapy integrates animals as key elements in treatment, assisting therapists in creating and sustaining effective, solution-focused programs.

Specific program services are available for the following - Veterans: Courage to Heal, At-Risk Youth: Path to Empathy, Students: Discovering Nature's Classroom, and Seniors: A New Lease on Life.

Provides individualized psychological care, family and couple counseling in a neutral setting. Offering Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Mediation, Interactive Play, Animal Assisted Equine Therapy, art, baking, walking, traditional talks and customized therapies.

Offers the Horses Helping Heroes program which is an equine assisted activity and therapy based, wellness and skill-set restructuring program for Veterans. The program is centered around Veteran men and women who may be homeless, struggling with substance abuse, PTSD or have experienced combat related trauma. The goal of the program is to help Veterans develop skills they can use in their day to day life.

Provides horse therapy. Offering programs for children and adults with autism (this uses horses and music). Also offers programs for veterans with physical limitations, brain trauma, and/or PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder).

In this non-clinical environment, the interaction between the rider and the horse is an effective and unique way of improving the physical, cognitive, and emotional disabilities of individuals. Horse therapy provides medical benefits through recreational activities.


LyonHeart Equine Assisted Learning partners horses and youth in strategic learning opportunities which empower youth to overcome social, emotional, behavioral and educational challenges. Horses connect with participants in a way that builds confidence, leading to a positive mindset and incredible outcomes.

LH-EAL is a non-riding facility. Facilitators are trained educators and volunteers who ensure safety of youth and horses. Programs include: HorsePowered Math, Reading & Life Skills.

Teamwork activities are available for businesses and groups of all ages.

Recreation therapy on horseback to enhance a disabled person's physical and mental well-being.
Empowers individuals of all ages and abilities to reach their full potential through equine assisted activities. Riders facing physical, mental, social, and emotional challenges are provided activities using horses to help them integrate their physical and emotional wellness in an environment of true acceptance and encouragement as they focus on their abilities rather than disabilities.

Sibling and parent participation is encouraged as it allows for family bonding. Family members must be at least four years old and have a rider who takes part in the therapeutic horseback riding program.
10-week summer program meets once a week and helps riders develop balance, core strength, and friendships leading to increased confidence. Sessions begin at the end of the school year and generally end around fair time. Riders are asked to assist with the care and maintenance of their horse and participate in weekly games and riding challenges. Runs May through August.
Equine assisted psychotherapy, learning, and development programming to address emotional, behavioral, educational, and social needs for all people.

Licensed mental health professional teams with equine professional to custom-design and deliver goal-oriented programs for groups and individuals.
Thunder Rode is a program that offers equestrian therapy service will work with therapeutic benefit. Individuals with a variety of special needs can be served through Sports Therapy Service. Iowa Thunder Empowerment provides mental well mainly for youth but will serve adults as well. Tri-States Thunder Vets is a service for veterans. There are volunteer opportunities including leading and side-walking with horses; no experience needed.
