Provides oversight and maintenance for the parks, trail systems and recreational facilities. 

Provides fire protection to the City of Freeport. Service includes business safety education, industry safety education, fire safety for senior citizens, juvenile fire setters' program, fire prevention week education in the schools, fire station tours, home inspections, disaster planning in the home, a blood pressure check program, a smoke detector program, and fire investigation. 

Responsible for the organization, administration, training and operation of the all-volunteer Emergency Management Agency. The Agency coordinates County and State resources in the event of an emergency or disaster. Members not only respond to residents in the event of an emergency but also make themselves available to assist with community events that require traffic direction or crowd control.

Offers to work with surrounding communities and businesses to develop procedures and preparations in the case of an emergency or disaster. Services include testing of sirens every month, ensure safety in case of a nuclear disaster, notify the public in case of a severe weather alert, and working with companies in the local area that deal with hazardous materials.
