Provides collaborative leadership, fundraising, and support for health and human service programs assisting Jasper County, Iowa, residents. The organization promotes youth enrichment by funding programs that offer activities such as arts, academics, sports, and workshops to enhance the social, emotional, physical, and academic development of school-age children and youth during out-of-school hours. Additionally, it facilitates volunteer recruitment and placement by identifying and matching individuals with skills and interests to human service agencies in need of voluntary support. Volunteers and issue-focused experts work with the organization year-round to help assess the community's most pressing needs and distribute resources to programs that will positively impact the area. Organizations must apply for program funding.

Provides financial assistance to individuals with disabilities and the agencies that serve them in Jo Daviess. The foundation requires the submission of grant applications in order to disburse funds. Immediate need funding requests may be submitted directly to the Executive Director or the Grant/Gifting Chair of the Hope Foundation of Jo Daviess County.

Requests for grants must be related, but not limited to:

Patient advocacy organization serving people with asthma and allergies, aiming to save lives and reduce the burden of these diseases by providing community support, patient and provider education, research, and advocacy. AAFA's comprehensive, evidence-based information and programming promote a better understanding of these diseases to empower patients and providers with knowledge to improve outcomes.

Implements annual fundraising campaigns within the service area. Works with 40-plus community partners to help those most in need. Campaigns within Wapello County service area invested programs that advance education, income and health.

Supports the Shriners Hospitals for Children and works to enhance the quality of life for those children.

Shriner's Hospital for Children is a one-of-a-kind international health care system dedicated to improving the lives of children by providing specialty pediatric care, innovative research and outstanding teaching programs. Children up to the age of 18 with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries and cleft lip and palate are eligible for admission and receive all care in a family-centered environment.

Offers free books to children age 0-5.

Public charity, donor advised funds, scholarships and nonprofit grants.

Provides endowments and donor services, stewardship, grant making, and community initiatives to organizations within DeKalb county.

Grants are awarded in the areas of arts and culture, community development, environment and animal welfare, education, health and human services, and nonprofit capacity building.

Administers the federal family planning program by subcontracting with health clinics across Iowa for direct services. The organization refers low-income clients to these clinics for discounted or free family planning services, but does not provide direct clinical services

Safer sex supplies, including condoms, lube, emergency contraception, and pregnancy test strips, are available to all Iowans at no cost through the organization.

Provides community awareness and funding for non-profit agencies. Volunteer committee evaluates funding requests, reviewing their budget and financial needs, as well as interviewing representatives from each agency. Based upon the perceived needs of all applicants, this committee will recommend member agencies for funding to the United Way of Mahaska County Board of Directors.
