Provides fire protection to Nevada, Grant, Richland, and Milford Townships.

Responsibilities include fire suppression, community risk reduction, emergency medical services, public education, fire inspections, fire code enforcement, and rescue. The department delivers non-transport paramedic services to the fire district.

Provides law enforcement services to the residents of the City of Nevada.

Disaster planning for efficient operations during disasters.

Liaison between emergency operations agencies and city-county executives.

Maintains the EOC for use at any time.

Develops and maintains the city-county warning systems.

Trains severe storm spotters and coordinates storm watch operations.

Coordinates four-wheel-drive medical personnel transport blizzard operations.

Plans and conducts various types of training exercises.

Instructs and assists the general public in disaster procedure.

Administers the federal Population Protection Program.

Assists schools, hospitals, nursing homes, business and industry in developing and implementing disaster plans.

Manages and directs Homeland Security funds.
