The Emergency Management Coordinator is responsible for the development of the county wide emergency operations plan, coordination of emergency planning activities and providing technical assistance to political subdivisions throughout the county; when or if an emergency or disaster would occur, the Emergency Management Coordinator provides assistance to the governing offices of the municipalities of the county and the county officials; Emergency Management is responsible for action on disasters, hazardous materials incidents, and is the Iowa Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management liaison during times of emergencies.
