Clayton County Emergency Management Office provides for the health, safety, and welfare of the public during an emergency situation or disaster. This agency manages and coordinates the county-wide response and recovery efforts to natural or man-made disasters. This agency services as the coordination point for state and federal relief programs. In addition, the agency provides for emergency preparedness and response planning for the county including: Develops the County's disaster preparedness and recovery plans for "All Hazards" and distributes and coordinates those plans on a County-wide basis, Develops and delivers public information and educational programs about disaster preparedness, Provides administrative and logistical support to the County's Hazardous Materials Response Team, Plans and conducts exercises that test and improve preparedness, Assists local industry in writing and preparing their EPCRA Off-Site Plans and Chemical Inventory and Tier II reporting forms, Maintains a hazardous-materials plan under the Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act, and Maintains public files of all facilities that use or store hazardous chemicals in excess of 10,000 pounds.
