Provides community to women and men dealing with infertility, connecting them with others who can help, empowering them to find resolution, and advocating for access to all family building options.

Peer led support groups are hosted by a volunteer and are composed of a varying number of people. Groups are often "drop in" in nature and last about two hours. Groups currently meeting in Bellevue, Nebraska and in Coralville, Waterloo, and Burlington, Iowa.

Support groups are led by a mental health professional. Individuals can process feeling relating to infertility or their family building efforts. Often composed of 8 to 10 individuals or 4 to 5 couples and scheduled weekly for 10-12 weeks. Support group leaders often have an intake appointment with each participant prior to the start of the group.

Support line provides peer-based support services to people affected by Hepatitis C. Consumer-run support line staffed by specially trained peer counselors to provide emotional support, health information, and referrals.

Confidential health information for Hispanic consumers in Spanish and English and helps navigate callers through the health system and provides basic information on a wide range of health topics.

Refers consumers to health care facilities in their community.

Information materials include a comprehensive bilingual prenatal guide called "Atencin Prenatal Temprana y Peridica Gua para Tener un Beb Saludable (Early and Regular Prenatal Care Helping You Have a Health Baby)" and numerous fact sheets on all aspects of prenatal care.
EPSDT (also called Care for Kids) is the Early Periodic, Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment program for children who are enrolled in Medicaid.

Maternal Health provides information about what to expect during pregnancy, including how to deal with physical and emotional changes and advice to prepare for the arrival of the new baby. Can also provide vitamins and help with locating health care providers.

Child and Adolescent Health coordinates free dental services, including screenings and fluoride varnishes. Can also perform blood lead testing and provide information and referrals to health and dental care services in the area, including mental health.

Offers a Registered Nurse who provides technical assistance, guidance, community resources, support, and trainings to childcare providers and their families. The RN is able to answer any questions childcare providers or their families have pertaining to the development, social emotional and general health and safety of children in care.
Mercy Family Health Line provides registered nurses 24 hours a day who are trained to provide answers to health care questions on a confidential basis. Can also help refer callers to physicians.
Cancer nurses available to talk with and refer people with cancer concerns.
Donated books to school districts designed to reach children, teens, and their families with information and support concerning cancer.

The helpline is able to answer questions about influenza or COVID-19 for health care professionals and members of the community. The helpline will address topics such as; steps to prevent the illness, how to keep work, school and communities safe, the latest guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Disease (CDC) and the Iowa Department of Public Health and finally, what UIHC is doing in regards to coronavirus. The helpline is not for patient care needs. Anyone with signs or symptoms of the flu or COVID-19 are encouraged to call for a video visit with a UI Health Care provider.

The Care for Kids Program - an Early Periodic Screening, Diagnosis & Treatment (EPSDT) program - serves residents of Polk and Dallas Counties. EPSDT is the benefit package of Medicaid/Title 19 for individuals under 21 years of age.

The focus of the EPSDT Care for Kids program is to inform families of the benefits they receive with Medicaid/Title 19. -help individuals secure a medical and dental home. Ensure that eligible individuals receive and understand the importance of preventative health care. Link families to other community resources to improve their health and well-being (WIC, Early ACCESS, parenting classes, child care assistance, housing assistance, food pantries, etc.).

The Population Health team is a free resource available to help patients reach their health and wellness goals.


Nurse Health Coaches work one-on-one with patients and their families to evaluate health needs, environmental factors, and other barriers to their health and wellness. They then help patients establish plans and goals to achieve a healthy lifestyle, working closely with local and state resources to ensure that each person receives the support that they need.
