Childbirth Education | Story County Public Health

Offers a childbirth education course to prepare parents for birth. Topics include labor, delivery, breathing, relaxing techniques, medications, epidurals and medical procedures. This course is also available on demand from home. Also offers a breastfeeding class and a Moms in Motion aquatic fitness class designed for prenatal women and includes gentle stretching, strengthening and cardiovascular exercise.

Advocacy | Sangamon County Child Advocacy Center

Provides a safe, child focused setting for investigations of child abuse, ensure victims and their families receive quality services, and raise awareness in the community to combat child abuse.

The victim advocates provide services to victims and their non-offending family members from the time the case is opened through disposition. They also assess needed service referrals, provide medical and court advocacy, and keep the victim and family members up to date on the status of the case.

Some of the services provided by advocates are:

- Assistance filing an order of protection.

- Setting up a follow up medical exam.

- Court accompaniment.

- Case updates.

- Assistance finding counseling.

Health Care Services | Bluestem Health

Affordable, comprehensive primary health care especially for those with limited resources. Includes general physical exams and immunizations.

Services are provided regardless of ability to pay through a sliding fee discount program. Fees are calculated based on household size and documented annual income. All patients are eligible to apply for the sliding fee discount, even those with insurance.

Dental Clinic offers preventative dental services including: X-rays, exams, cleanings, fillings and extractions.

Pharmacy services offered to patients. Those eligible for the sliding fee program receive their medications at 30 to 50% below the retail market. Kohl's, Walgreens, Genoa, and Walmart fill all medications. Mobile Medical Clinic services, in which a van visits different locations to see patients.

HIV/STD testing provides confidential HIV/AIDS testing and counseling.

Transportation program provides a limited number of cab vouchers.

Mental health services are provided in-house through a partnership with Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska, as well as being referred out to collaborating behavioral health agencies.

Prenatal care for women.

Radiology has certified x-ray technicians to provide limited x-ray services.

Medication assistance programs help uninsured and underinsured patients apply to various pharmaceutical companies. Staff complete applications for patients to obtain their medication at an affordable cost.

Translation services offered to non-English speaking patients. Languages include Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic, Kurdish, Burmese, Karen, and Thai.

Crisis Intervention | Northeast Iowa Behavioral Health

Offers a 24-hour crisis hotline providing access to a therapist for people experiencing a mental health crisis. The therapist will talk with the person, evaluate the need for further and/or immediate services, and work to get services set up with the individual if needed.

Donation Center | Open Door Mission

All Open Door Mission Donation Centers accept donations such as vehicles, gently used clothing, household items, toys, shoes, bedding, etc.

Furniture donations can only be accepted at the Donation Center on the main campus by the Airport, on the East side of the Timberlake Outreach Center.

(Due to the increased cost of gasoline, staffing, and fleet maintenance, Open Door Mission is not able to offer pick-up service.)

AABD - Aid to the Aged, Blind or Disabled | Illinois Department of Human Services

Provides medical and cash assistance for customers who are 65 years of age or older, blind, or disabled. Also includes the QMB (Qualified Medicare Beneficiary) program which provides payment of Medicare premiums and some Medicare co-payments.

The online application is called "Application for Benefits Eligibility (ABE)."  When applying, the state will determine the applicant's eligibility for this AABD, as well as SNAP and medical assistance (Medicaid).
