Provides emotional and practical support to individuals facing mental health challenges. Using shared life experiences to offer encouragement, build hope, and foster empowerment. Peer support can help individuals navigate recovery, develop coping skills, and connect to community resources, all while promoting personal growth and self-advocacy. 

Family Peer Support, Family peer support specialists work specifically with families of individuals who are experiencing mental health challenges. Family peer specialists offer guidance, resources, and emotional support to help families better understand the struggles of their loved ones. Offering coping strategies, enhance communication within the family, and help families connect to services and support networks, fostering a more supportive home environment for recovery. 

Peer Recovery Specialists, peer recovery specialists assist individuals in achieving and maintaining long-term recovery from substance use disorders. They offer practical support such as goal setting, skills building, and crisis intervention, alongside emotional encouragement. Through shared experiences, they serve as mentors and role models, helping individuals create personalized recovery plans and connect with resources for housing, employment, and social services.

Offers school supplies for the children of Adams County entering grades K-12.  Registration is in July, with distribution just before school starts.

Birth control, pregnancy testing, family planning services, HIV and other STD testing, pap tests, and breast exams.

Hispanic clinic with on-site translators offered monthly.

Educational presentations and workshops.

Provides Adult Basic Education (ABE): Adult Basic Education classes offer instruction in math, vocabulary, reading comprehension and writing skills. These skills are needed for success in the workplace, the community and for education. Adults, 16 years of age and older who meet certain requirements, are eligible to enroll.

Offers Adult Secondary Education (ASE): Preparation classes for the General Educational Development (GED) exam or other accepted High School Equivalency (HSE) exams are available for adults, 16 years of age and older, who have not graduated from high school. Also offered in Spanish.

Offers MEDICAID (Medical Assistance) to people who are low income and aged (65 and older), disabled (including blindness), women needing treatment for cancer or pre-cancerous conditions of breast or cervix (who have been screened and diagnosed through the Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection program and who do not have credible health insurance coverage), children under 21 years of age, pregnant women, parents or other caretaker relatives of children under age 18 (or under age 19 if they are attending secondary school and are expected to graduate before age 19). Medicaid will pay the costs of Health care, Dental care, In-home health care, Nursing facility care or Residential facility care.

Public housing for the elderly, disabled, and low income; does not operate any emergency housing programs, and waiting times may be up to a year before admission.

VASH voucher (Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing).Housing for low income families under federal guidelines.

Provides childhood immunizations and adult vaccinations. Flu vaccinations are also available.

Maintains county highways, bridges, and oversees the closed landfill. Responsibilities include budgeting, design, inspections, bidding, and public hearings. 

Offers law enforcement services to the Livingston County area, including operating a 911 emergency response service to assess and dispatch appropriate emergency assistance. Additionally, conducts requested background checks, and manages the county jail.

Provides a program that reimburses participating child development homes for serving healthy meals and snacks to children in care setting. 

Provides essential resources, educational tools, and peer support for individuals seeking long-term sobriety. Each recovery center also provides a place to do laundry and take a shower. 

Offers primary care including family medicine, internal medicine, infectious disease management, pediatric care, OB/GYN services, prenatal and postpartum coordinated care with labor and delivery, immunizations and preventative screenings, and chronic care.

Provides supported community living (SCL) for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Daily supervision is offered as needed by DSPs. Individuals served have an Individual Service Plan. 

Offers early childhood preschool programs, Head Start and Early Head Start, in both a center and in-home based settings. Programs are offered for free to eligible families who have children six-weeks to four-years-old.

Reimburses for funeral and burial expenses when a person's resources and all other sources of payment are less than the DHS standard payment rates. The maximum amount that DHS will pay is $1370 for a funeral and $686 for a cremation/burial.

Library services and resources, including computers and internet access.

Offers to match the caller’s legal problem with available resources, such as advice, extended representation, or referral. For most low-income applicants. Callers are screened for eligibility, and a determination is made whether eligible callers have a legal problem that falls within the priorities. If the caller’s legal problem is eligible for review for extended services, the caller is referred to one of our five regional offices. If the callers are not eligible for referral to a regional office, attorneys provide the caller with immediate advice or quick access to other information and resources.

Provides a food box containing nonperishable food items. Food boxes are available 24 hours a day, located at the base of the outdoor church steps facing North Main Street.
