Helps households to conserve fuel and reduce energy costs by making their homes and apartments more energy efficient through weatherization. Also provides many health and safety upgrades.

Services include:

- Air sealing

- Attic and wall insulation

- HVAC repair or replacement

- Electric base load reduction (lighting and refrigerator replacement)

- Ventilation and moisture control measures (and other health/safety measures)

Offers home health care and hospice services. Care may include:

• Regular visits to patient's home to provide care.

  - Coordinate services needed from other healthcare providers, including doctors, therapists, social workers and nurse aides.

• Keeps family and primary care physician informed about progress and care plan.

  VNA will also answer questions about hospice care or end-of-life questions, even if a patient is not ready for hospice care at this time. Topics include:

• Advance directives.

• End-of-life issues.

• Making plans to provide care for a loved one with a terminal illness.

• Grief and loss issues.

• Understanding palliative care vs. curative treatment.

Provides home modifications to help remove barriers in the homes of seniors to help them remain in their homes longer. Improvements are meant to reduce the risk of falling, improve general safety, increase accessibility, and to improve the functional abilities of the home.

This is a grant program (up to $5,000) for single-family homeowners within the Omaha city limits. No repayment is necessary.

Works to improve the quality of life for rural Americans by ensuring access to safe, well-built, affordable homes. Acting as a housing authority, the agency provides information on eligibility and vacancies for subsidized and public housing, administers Section 8 applications and vouchers, and manages rental payments. Services also include monitoring and analyzing the housing environment to support the development, finance, management, and preservation of diverse housing options that enhance community livability and empower neighborhoods. 

Additionally, the program offers loans for individuals seeking to purchase their own homes or refinance existing mortgages to expand home ownership opportunities.

Promotes wellness through evidence-based workshops and monthly education events such as Fresh Conversations (nutrition/health topics); Better Choices Better Health (chronic disease management); Matter of Balance (falls prevention) and TaiChi for Arthritis for Falls Prevention.

Provides supportive services to unpaid caregivers and relatives raising children. These services promote healthier aging and seek to prevent long-term care placement of older adults. Services offered include information about legal rights, supplemental services to complement caregiver services, assistance and information about gaining access to community resources, support groups, education, and counseling for caregivers and respite care for the caregiver.

Offers law enforcement services to the Cerro Gordo County area. Issues gun/firearm permits, runs requested background checks, and manages the county Jail.

Provides education and support for family members and other loved ones who have been affected by someone else's substance use. The program helps participants better understand addiction, cope with the effects it can have on families, and learn healthy ways to support their own recovery and well-being. Services include educational sessions and support groups. Family members can benefit from the program even if the person with the substance use problem is still using.

Provides one-time annual assistance for basic needs, including rent or lot rent, utilities such as gas, electric, and water, and food vouchers. The program does not serve individuals receiving FIP, living in subsidized housing, or currently enrolled as students. Additionally, the program may offer support for prescription medication needs, such as access to low-cost or hard-to-obtain medications and assistance with medication adherence. Financial assistance for burial or cremation expenses may also be available to help families cover funeral, cremation, or interment costs.

Need-based Scholarship Program - Provides approximately $1.55 million in scholarship funding each year to Nebraska’s nonprofit public and private colleges. The colleges then award the funds to eligible students who demonstrate financial need, which may include middle-income as well as low-income students. Reaching Your Potential Scholarship Program - Students who face significant obstacles to higher education are the target of this need-based, renewable scholarship program which provides approximately $100,000 in scholarships each year. Applicants are referred to the program by community agencies and colleges statewide. College Access Grants Program - Provides funding for Nebraska high schools that seek to develop or enhance college access activities within their school. The program’s goal is to increase the number of Nebraska students going to college. Every two years, EducationQuest provides grants to approximately 15 high schools and commits funding to each school for four years. Funding amounts depend on the high school’s enrollment.

Offers the following services:

- Rental assistance.

- Utility assistance. (No utility payments are authorized during the November 1 to April 1 disconnection moratorium.)

- Food and non-food provisions.

- Pre-authorized/medication refills.

- Burial expenses.

Application approval is required to receive benefits. Payments are made directly to landlords and/or service providers. No cash benefits are available. Application decisions are guaranteed within 30 days or less of applying.

Program benefits offered no more than one time every six months.

Offers early childhood preschool programs, Head Start and Early Head Start, in both a center and in-home based settings. Programs are offered for free to eligible families who have children six-weeks to four-years-old.

Senior Care Options program available to older Nebraskans who are considering admission to a nursing home and may be eligible for Medicaid assistance. Clients are screened according to a standardized assessment process developed by the Department of Health and Human Services.

Care Managers arrange for services, which allow older adults to live as independently as possible, for as long as possible.

Housekeeping and supportive services to include grocery shopping, cleaning, laundry, transportation and personal care.

Family Caregiver Support for those caring for an aging adult or grandparents caring for a minor child. Provides information, assistance, support group, respite care, and supplemental services.

Home delivered meals are provided to homebound by reason of illness, disability or isolation. The meals meet 1/3 of the daily dietary recommended needs of adults 60 years and over and the requirements of the Older Americans Act and state and local laws.

Public benefit services, legal assistance, education, Medicare filing, and volunteer training through SHIIP.

Provides nutrition (dietary) information to seniors and farmers' market vouchers which are redeemable for fresh fruits and vegetables. The vouchers may be used anytime during the farmers' market season.

Offers workshops that teach individuals and families how to get more out of money and how to save money for financial goals. This is a series of workshops that are a blend of instruction and hands on activities so each concept can be mastered. 

Provides therapy for a wide range of problems including couples problems, depression, anxiety, childhood and adolescent behavioral issues, trauma, and grief. Services are available outside of normal business hours.

LIHEAP (low income home energy assistance program) provides assistance with a utility bill. Applications are accepted October 1 – August 15. Income must fall within 200% of poverty guideline. Call or visit the website to schedule an appointment.

**This program is not designed to pay a household's total energy costs. The program will provide supplemental assistance based on several factors. This is a one-time payment to your energy provider.

Provides in home medical services. Services include but not limited to skilled nursing, medication management, therapy (OT, PT, ST), and medical social worker services.
