Offers a hand-up to area families in need of safe, decent and affordable housing. Works to keep homes affordable through the use of volunteer labor and affordable mortgages. Qualified applicants make less than 80 percent of the area median income and become full partners in the work of building or rehabilitating the future home. In order to become a Habitat homeowner, the applicant must meet the following criteria,
Have a demonstrated need for housing. Have a sufficient, stable and verifiable household income to support monthly mortgage payments. Mortgage payments do not exceed 30 percent of the homeowner’s household income.
Be willing to complete 200-300 hours of sweat equity. These hours are completed on the build sites and through time spent at a nine-part education series homeowners are required to complete prior to moving into their home

State Supplement adds to the benefits of the federal Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Program to bring the income of aged and disabled individuals up to the need of standards of Nebraska. Additionally, some persons are not eligible for SSI payments, but qualify for a State Supplement payment because of different standards and regulations.
State Disability provides aid to needy persons who have a disability expected to last for at least six months, but less than the 12 months required to be eligible for the federal Supplemental Security Income Program.
