This program is through the Illinois Department of Revenue and is not the same as the Senior Citizen Assessment Freeze or Senior Citizen Exception.
Active Duty Tax Deferral program - offers a property tax deferral service for any member of the Illinois National Guard or a Member of the United States Armed Forces Reserves for an extension of their property tax due date for up to 180 days after return from Active Duty. The reservist or guardsperson must make a reasonable effort to notify the county clerk and the county collector within 180 days after his or her deactivation and provide verification of the date of his or her deactivation.
