WIC (Women Infants, & Children) is a supplemental nutrition program for babies, children under the age of 5, pregnant women, breastfeeding women, and women who have had a baby in the last 6 months. Provides healthy foods, nutrition education, and referrals to other health care agencies.

Provides emergency financial assistance for low-income individuals and families in Macon County. Assistance covers basic needs such as rent, prescription payment costs, and emergency shelter vouchers for those who are homeless and needing a place to stay,

Also offers financial support for the following on a case-by-case basis water bills, state issued IDs and birth certificates, GED testing fees, gas for out-of-town doctor appointments, bus cards and tokens, diapers and baby formula, and assistance with work-related items.

Clayton County Food Shelf provides food to those in need. Items available include boxed and canned food, diabetic food items, and baby items (when available) including diapers, formula, and baby food. There are usually have some perishable items on hand including: milk, bread, fresh produce in season, ground beef, venison, and eggs. Use of the pantry is limited to once a month; this may vary depending on circumstances. Home delivery is possible when necessary; call for information. The pantry is also available by appointment early mornings, late evenings, and weekends (call for an appointment). This is a participating TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program) food pantry. Enrollment into TEFAP is confidential and requires proof of address and identification. Individuals participating in the FoodShare, School Nutrition Program, WIC, or Senior Meals programs may participate in TEFAP without impacting their ability to qualify for those programs.

Some of the resources Family’s Helping Hand can provide are a mini food pantry including formula/baby food, clothes closet, and household and hygiene supplies. Volunteer opportunities are available. This is a participating TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program) food pantry. Enrollment into TEFAP is confidential and requires proof of address and identification. Individuals participating in the FoodShare, School Nutrition Program, WIC, or Senior Meals programs may participate in TEFAP without impacting their ability to qualify for those programs.

Offers a DMARC food pantry and a personal pantry open to anyone in need. Individuals and families can receive an emergency food box once per calendar month as long as they have not received a food box from another DMARC food pantry during the same calendar month. The food pantry may be visited daily for food essentials, but will not receive a food box unless it has been 30 days since the last received.

PERSONAL PANTRY offers toiletries and other personal hygiene products to those in need when available at the same time as receiving the food box.

DIAPERS, WIPES AND INFANT FORMULA are available following the same guidelines as emergency food boxes.
Provides a food and personal pantry free of charge to Grimes individuals/families who are in need of basic food and personal hygiene supplies. Can also offer some formula/baby food and other baby items as available.

A voluntary program for prenatal families and families of children from birth to 5 years. This program is based on the belief that parents are their child's first and most influential teachers. LENDING LIBRARY with toys and books available for participants.

FAMILY CABINET uses a point system used to earn diapers, formula, and other baby supplies.

Anyone that would like to have the food pantry deliver to their home, can call ahead for a food delivery. This is only available for those in Polk County. No delivery on weekends, but a pick up time can be set up if needed. Call 515-518-4770 for further assistance.
