First apply for assistance at the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (through ACCESSNebraska at www.accessnebraska.ne.gov) for an eligibility determination and referrals to community agencies with Letter of Eligibility, then schedule an appointment with the Community Service Coordinator.

Provides emergency assistance to help with utility or rent deposits, disconnects, rent eviction prevention, and utility(disconnect) prevention. Payments are made directly to the vendors and landlords. Maximum assistance is $200.

Provides financial and support services to Veteran Families who are homeless or imminently at-risk of being homeless.

Aims to stabilize these families in housing, while providing on-going support as needed to sustain independent living.

Services may include, rental and utility deposits, limited rental and utility assistance, limited moving costs and emergency supplies, case management services, transportation assistance, information and referrals to community resources, assistance in obtaining VA benefits, assistance in obtaining and securing other public benefits, and assistance in securing permanent housing.

Provides medical and financial assistance including: rent and rental deposit assistance, assisted living financial assistance with a written statement from physician indicating client is in need of that level of care. Medical care provided through the Primary Health Care Clinic or authorized by clinic physician. Bus passes at a reduced rate and personal hygiene vouchers. Burial (cremation) expenses.

Provides low-income clients with rent and security deposit assistance to help a household maintain housing. To qualify for this program the client needs to be behind on their rent and the landlord has to have served them a legal eviction notice. The client will also be required to have some type of income (employment, social security, TANF, unemployment, etc.) to qualify for assistance. Babysitting (or some other type of working) for cash will NOT be accepted as income. A client can only be assisted every two years through this program.

Transitional Housing is designed to move homeless families from streets and shelters into temporary housing and to maximize self-sufficiency, this program is for families only and they must be homeless in order to receive assistance. Homeless means living on the street, in an emergency shelter, or a place not meant for human habitation (cars, parks, sidewalks, abandoned building, etc.) Occupancy is limited.

Supportive Housing is designed to move homeless families/individuals with documented disabilities from streets and shelters into temporary housing and to maximize self-sufficiency. Enrollment is limited based on availability.
