The board of medicine only regulates physicians (M.D./D.O.) acupuncturist and genetic counselors. The Board does not have the authority to get involved in some matters, such as complaints involving health care professionals regulated by other agencies and complaints against hospitals, nursing homes and insurance companies. The Board cannot be involved in suing a licensee for damages or settling disputes over billing or disability ratings.
Inspections of all restaurants, food stores, processors and warehouses regarding sanitation, hygiene and food protection. Technical assistance is provided, including the review of plans for new establishments to insure proper equipment and construction, and the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) review of food preparation. Complaints are investigated, including those involving potential foodborne illnesses. The Program is advised by the Food Advisory Committee, which is composed of industry representatives and other citizens.

Works to identify or investigate concerns made by or on behalf of people living in long-term care facilities. Assistance may include: investigation and work to resolve the problem, information on laws and regulations, how to choose a long-term care facility or answering questions about life at a facility.
