Monitors and enforces standards and regulatory policies for telecommunications; passenger motor transportation and moving companies; manufactured homes, modular homes and recreational vehicles; grain warehouses; and natural gas.

Handles complaints regarding utility service providers.
Inspections of all restaurants, food stores, processors and warehouses regarding sanitation, hygiene and food protection. Technical assistance is provided, including the review of plans for new establishments to insure proper equipment and construction, and the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) review of food preparation. Complaints are investigated, including those involving potential foodborne illnesses. The Program is advised by the Food Advisory Committee, which is composed of industry representatives and other citizens.

Provides food handler/manager education and permitting.
Jurisdiction covers all radio transmitters including broadcasting, land mobile, amateur, and citizens band services. Also have information for self-help in solving interference problems to home entertainment equipment. For further information contact FCC.

UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF LABOR services include:

NATIONAL LABOR RELATIONS BOARD administers the nation's principal labor law designed to protect the rights of employees, in the private sector and U.S. Postal Service, to engage or not to engage in union or other concerted actions.

WAGE AND HOUR LAW administers and enforces the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938, commonly known as the Wage and Hour Law which establishes a minimum wage, overtime, and child labor regulations for employment in Interstate Commerce or production of goods for Interstate Commerce, and certain enterprises which have any employees so engaged in Interstate Commerce.

OTHER: Also administers the Federal Wage Garnishment Law which restricts the amount of earnings which may be garnished and prohibits termination on account of a single indebtedness. Also administers the Davis-Bacon and related acts and Contract Work hours Standards Act. These acts relate to Federal or Federally Financed Construction. In addition, The Service Contracts Act provides minimum wages and fringe benefits for service employees employed by contractors having contracts with the United States. Also, the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993. Information is furnished to employers, employees, and the general public on the provisions of these acts. Investigations are made to determine compliance.
