Includes Better Breathers Clubs, Freedom From Smoking, INDEPTH, COPD, asthma programs and more. Attend an educational webinar or in-person class, such as spirometry training. HEALTH EDUCATION PROGRAMS: presentations, programs and assistance are available for schools, community groups, hospitals, businesses and other groups. Materials are available free or at a low cost which address smoking, agricultural respiratory hazards, air pollution, occupational lung hazards, asthma, general lung health, and lung diseases.

QUIT LINE: Telephone counseling and support available for those who want to or are thinking about quitting. 1-800-784-8669.

LUNG HELPLINE is a FREE helpline staffed by respiratory therapists and registered nurses available to answer lung health questions on topics including tobacco cessation, COPD, lung cancer, medication, clinical trials and more. Call 1-800-LUNG-USA (586-4872).

COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP GRANT is dedicated to reducing tobacco use and the associated death and disease in Central Iowa. The program serves Adair, Dallas, Jasper, Madison, Marshall, Polk Union and Warren County.

FIGHT FOR AIR CLIMB is a unique event in downtown Des Moines. Individuals and teams climb the steps of EMC Insurance Companies, Financial Center, Hub Tower and Ruan Center. To learn more go to fightforairclimb.org.

Heart healthy lifestyle education to the community, schools, and work sites. Education of healthcare professionals about the prevention and treatment of heart disease and stroke.

Funding for heart disease and stroke research. Annual events include Go Red for Women, Heart Walk, and Heart Ball Gala.

Outpatient clinic provides cardiac, orthopedic, urology, ENT, oncology, OB, wound care, and vascular care.

Radiology department includes ultrasounds, CT scans, mammograms, MRI, and nuclear medicine.

Other services include home visits to newborns, diabetic education, cancer support and information, wigs for chemotherapy patients, and discharge planning which includes support services for patients and families during hospitalization and upon discharge.

Support services through Patient Resource Education Program (PREP). Mentors help others understand the diagnosis, staging, treatment options, clinical trials, side effect management, research, management of the disease, and more.

Peer to Peer Networking

Provides community to women and men dealing with infertility, connecting them with others who can help, empowering them to find resolution, and advocating for access to all family building options.

Peer led support groups are hosted by a volunteer and are composed of a varying number of people. Groups are often "drop in" in nature and last about two hours. Groups currently meeting in Bellevue, Nebraska and in Coralville, Waterloo, and Burlington, Iowa.

Support groups are led by a mental health professional. Individuals can process feeling relating to infertility or their family building efforts. Often composed of 8 to 10 individuals or 4 to 5 couples and scheduled weekly for 10-12 weeks. Support group leaders often have an intake appointment with each participant prior to the start of the group.

Referrals for hearing loss issues and programs.

Advocacy for deaf and hard of hearing individuals and assist in Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) issues to secure such services. Promotes awareness and understanding of the rights of persons with a hearing loss.

Equipment loan programs (amplified phones, TTY phone equipment, amplified headsets and two hearing aid banks). Offers telephone equipment demonstrations.

Maintains an inventory of services available to meet the needs of the deaf and hard of hearing and assist them in securing these services.

Conducts a voluntary census of deaf and hard of hearing persons in Nebraska and compile a registry.

Provides reconditioned hearing aids to persons who need these instruments and meet the age and financial guidelines.

Expands programs and services available to deaf and hard of hearing persons throughout the state. Implements new programs through collaboration with consumer groups, the governor, legislature, organizations, institutions, and agencies. Broadens the collection and dissemination of information on hearing loss and deafness.
