The Women, Infant, and Children Program (WIC) is nationwide nutrition education and breastfeeding program that helps pregnant women, new mothers, babies, and young children (up to age 5) eat well, learn about nutrition, and stay healthy. WIC provides nutrition education and counseling, nutritious foods, and referrals to health and other social services as needs.

Preventative reproductive health care and education to any member of the community. Develops reproductive life plans. Goals are to decrease unintended pregnancy and reduce transmissions of sexually transmitted infections.

WIC Clinic is open the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Tuesday of each month. Eligible individuals can receive nutrition education, referrals to community services, and vouchers for nutritious foods. Additionally, Peer Educators are available to provide breastfeeding education and support to pregnant and postpartum women enrolled in the Nebraska WIC program. A federally sponsored supplemental food program. The amount of food available to each family is dependent upon age and risk factors. Nutrition education and breastfeeding support are major components of the program.

WIC is the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, administered in Illinois by the Department of Human Services (DHS) and is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

A WIC EBT card will be provided to families so they can purchase healthy foods like fruits, vegetables, milk, cheese, yogurt, eggs, peanut butter, beans, lentils, whole grains, 100% juice, cereal, infant cereal, baby food and formula.

Breastfeeding mothers may also receive tuna fish and salmon.

Participants in WIC receive an eWIC card for healthy foods. The foods provided by WIC provide nutrients that are essential for good health and growth. Participants also meet with nurses and dietitians to review health and diet information, discuss important nutrition information for their family, and receive referrals for other services when needed.

Offers Family Case Management that provides outreach, comprehensive case management and support services to prenatal women, infants and children. After a baby is born, FCM nurses assure that the infants and children are receiving periodic well baby check-ups and immunizations.

Provides a supplemental food and nutrition education program for pregnant, nursing, and postpartum women, infants, and children to age 5. The program includes, breastfeeding support and education, breastfeeding peer counselor, group and individual nutrition education, coupons for healthy foods.
