Allamakee Substance Abuse Prevention (ASAP) coordinates efforts with other prevention agencies to increase the community's awareness of alcohol and other drug use and abuse. Educational and preventive services aimed at individuals, families, social service groups, schools, and other organizations requesting information (examples include a juvenile probation program and parenting education classes) are provided. The agency also offers consultation and assistance to professionals and other individuals working with people with substance use disorders.

Childhood and adult vaccines for all people are provided at each of Elkhorn Logan Valley Public Health Department's three locations in Norfolk, Tekamah and Wisner. Includes vaccines for those who are privately insured, Medicare, Medicaid and those who are uninsured.

Arm in Arm, Aiding Recovering Moms is a program for pregnant and/or parenting women who also have problems with substance abuse.

Substance abuse recovery planning coordinates schools, employers, family, and recovering person to put a plan in place that includes relapse prevention.

Youth care coordination program offers one-to-one support and case management services for children and youth with a severe emotional disturbance (SED) diagnosis.

Community support assists persons with severe and persistent mental illness through one-to-one services, helping clients live in a residence of their choice. Provides assessment, planning, linking and monitoring services to meet the client's needs.

Prevention services include a wide-range of speakers, informational videos, books, and brochures.


Emergency support program provides support to individuals who are experiencing a mental health or substance use emergency.


Medication Assisted Treatment including Medication Management with providers specially trained and licensed to provide MAT.

Substance abuse evaluations assess an individuals involvement with alcohol/drugs and how this use has affected one's major life areas. Upon completion of this evaluation process, a referral to the treatment modality most appropriate to the clients needs is made.

Adult Outpatient Treatment is designed to expose clients to the tools necessary for making responsible decisions regarding the use of alcohol/drugs. Issues such as the disease concept of alcoholism, physical effects of alcohol/drugs, denial and defense mechanisms, and the effects on family members and among those addressed during the treatment process. Group meets Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30-7:30 pm.

Extended Adult Outpatient Treatment program participants meet three times a week for two hours per session for eight weeks and is followed by an individual aftercare group that meets on Wednesday evenings at 5:30 pm. The program consists of a combination of education, group, and individual sessions. AA and/or NA attendance is necessary in addition to the treatment hours. Individual sessions are provided as part of Aftercare planning and based on the individual's need.

Aftercare Services provides structured group therapy on a weekly basis for individuals that have completed treatment with any agency. The focus of this group is recovery issues. Meets every Wednesday evening 5:30-7:30 pm.

Discover Program is an early intervention modality for adolescents who are or have the potential for developing an abuse pattern of chemical use and have issues such as self esteem, decision making, peer pressure, and help with communication skills.

DUI Assessments are completed to determine an individual's educational and treatment needs.

DUI Remedial Education class educates clients on the effects of alcohol/drugs, including the physical effects, the disease concept of alcoholism, DUI laws, and alcoholism as a family disease; meets on four consecutive Monday evenings from 5:30-8 pm.
