The Garner Police Department provides law enforcement services for the City of Garner, including responding to emergency assistance requests through a 911 telephone response service staffed by trained personnel who assess situations and dispatch the appropriate emergency response agencies.

Offers after school programs at Lewis Lemon Community Center (LLCC) and Washington Park Community Center (WPCC).

- LLCC After School Program: Enrichment program offered to Lewis Lemon students. Activities include homework help, board games, arts and crafts, gaming systems, and the opportunity to participate in organized basketball and football teams. A daily snack is provided. Students also have the opportunity to participate in the 1st Century Program, which offers help in reading, math, and science. The students of this program must be teacher recommended.

- LLCC Teen Evening Program: Offers open gym, gaming systems, and more. Staff keeps teens active and safe.

- WPCC After School Program: Provides an after school program for youth. A snack and boxed dinner are provided.

Activities include:

- Homework help.

- Arts and crafts.

- Gymnasium games.

- Fitness.

- Computer lab.

- Outdoor play (weather permitting).

- Cub Scouts.

- Girl Scouts.

- Sports teams.

WPCC Teen/Tween Evening Program

Offers a food pantry for Kelley and Huxley residents only. Pantry can be visited once a month to those in need. Will deliver in an emergency situation.

Centralized Financial Assistance is open to anyone in Linn County that needs help with financial assistance (e.g. rent, utilities, etc.). Local area agencies that help with financial assistance in the Linn County area are transitioning to a Centralized Financial Assistance center that can help direct residents of Linn County to the appropriate financial assistance resources in their area. This is a collaborative effort between United Way of East Central Iowa, Linn County, Waypoint and local community agencies. If you need help with rent or utilities in the Linn County area you MUST call the Centralized Financial Assistance number to get help from the following participating agencies:

• Helping Hands
• Willis Dady
• Marion Cares

Important Note: Individuals must call to request rental or other financial assistance. Assistance is not guaranteed, as rental and financial assistance depends on available funding. While agencies have funding at times, availability can change, calling is required to determine if assistance is currently available.

Offers donated furniture that is picked up and delivered to households that have expressed a need.

Provides non-perishable food items and donated fresh produce, when available.

Offers hot meals that is served five days a week. Services also includes home delivered meals for homebound seniors.

Offers help with limited financial assistance (as funding allows) for basic needs such as rent, utilities, and food.

Clients must participate in ongoing case management.

Offers the following education programs:

NAMI Family to Family: Provides an 8-session educational program for family, significant others, and friends of people living with mental illness. Program is also offered in Spanish.

NAMI Peer to Peer: Provides an 8-week educational program for adults with mental health conditions who are looking to better understand themselves and their recovery. Program is also offered in Spanish.

NAMI Basics: Provides a 6-week education program for parents and family caregivers of children and teens who are experiencing symptoms of a mental illness or who have already been diagnosed. Program is offered in a group setting so that attendees can connect with others face-to-face.

NAMI Ending the Silence: Provides a presentation for middle and high school students. Symptoms of mental health conditions and resources to access when they are noted in peers and family members are provided. A recovery speaker shares their story. Students are asked to take action in ending the stigma regarding mental illness.

Provides information and assistance for veterans and eligible dependents in filing applications for benefits through the US Department of Veterans Affairs.

Federal level services provides and/or completes Veteran Administration forms for claims relating but not limited to:

- Service connected compensation.

- Disability pension.

- Widow's pension.

- Burial allowance.

- Grave markers/headstones.

- Educational benefits.

- Home loans.

- Insurance.

Safeguards the rights of all employed persons in the State to obtain and hold employment without discrimination resulting from one or more of the protected basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex (including pregnancy), disability, marital status, age, retaliation, or equal pay.

Eliminates unlawful discrimination in the acquisition, ownership, possession, or enjoyment of housing in Nebraska.

Ensures the full and equal enjoyment of any place of public accommodation without subjection to unlawful discrimination, race, creed, colon, sex, religion, national origin, ancestry, and retaliation.

Receives and investigates charges of unlawful discrimination practices in Nebraska relating to employment, housing, and public accommodations.

Education, mediation, and conciliation, attempting to eliminate unlawful discrimination.

Holds public hearings and makes case referrals for litigation through the Attorney General's office to carry out the purposes of the statutes administered by NEOC.

Serves persons who are victims of alleged unlawful discrimination by employer, union, provider of housing, housing financier, or public proprietor due to membership in designated protected classes.

Training is provided in these areas free of charge.

A long term, home visiting program for parents or caregivers residing in Dallas, Madison, Warren, Marion, or Jasper Counties with a child aged prenatal to three. The PAT Program provides family support, parenting education, developmental screening and connection to community resources. The program provides twice monthly home visits to families, always bringing a parent/child activity that will encourage the child's development. The goal of the program is to assist parents in practicing development centered parenting so that their child is healthy, ready to learn and succeed.

Provides the Unemployment Compensation Insurance programs and assists with questions regarding and applications for unemployment compensation, and provide resources for those seeking employment and retraining information.

Offers to hold monthly social events/activities for membership on Tuesday afternoons which include various activities, bookstore available and bingo.
