Offers to match the caller’s legal problem with available resources, such as advice, extended representation, or referral. For most low-income applicants. Callers are screened for eligibility, and a determination is made whether eligible callers have a legal problem that falls within the priorities. If the caller’s legal problem is eligible for review for extended services, the caller is referred to one of our five regional offices. If the callers are not eligible for referral to a regional office, attorneys provide the caller with immediate advice or quick access to other information and resources.

Assists property homeowners, who need a small home repair completed in their home in McHenry County. Senior Services maintains a pool of volunteers and service organizations that are able to help with small handyman tasks and yard maintenance.
Staff can also provide a list to connect seniors to preferred professional service providers and individuals for private pay who have consented to a background and reference screening process. This list is a reliable substitute to choosing an unknown service provider from the phone book. Preferred providers are available to perform general home repairs and odd jobs, plumbing, window washing, waste removal, lawn maintenance, snow removal, etc. Based on availability, financial assistance may be an option for seniors who qualify."

A no-kill animal shelter that provides shelter, care, and suitable homes for animals when possible. Other programs include:
- Animal Assisted Therapy: brings pets to residents of nursing facilities, assisted living, Alzheimer's Centers, and residential disability centers.
- Dog Bite Prevention Education: visits schools and other groups to teach children the basics of animal behavior and how to avoid getting bitten by dogs and cats.
- Continuing Care: provides shelter and care for pets if their owners become unavailable to care for them.
- Arm Chair Adoptions: Individuals who are unable to care for a pet in their home can "adopt" a pet that lives at the animal shelter, and the individual receives letters and photos of their pet.

Furniture donations can only be accepted at the Donation Center on the main campus by the Airport, on the East side of the Timberlake Outreach Center.
(Due to the increased cost of gasoline, staffing, and fleet maintenance, Open Door Mission is not able to offer pick-up service.)
