A medium security women's facility emphasizing academic and vocational education, prison industries, psychological counseling, cognitive skill training, substance abuse programs, violence prevention, pre-release program, reentry programs, anger management and parenting programs IOWA MEDICAL & CLASSIFICATION CENTER, CORALVILLE (319-626-2391): IMCC serves as the reception and classification center for all males 18 years of age and older entering the adult institutional corrections system. After extensive testing and assessment of risk, health and cognitive skills, they are then processed on to other facilities. A medium security general population unit is in operation at IMCC, as well as, a special needs unit with both medical and mental health beds. IMCC also runs the only licensed forensic psychiatric hospital in the state, providing inpatient psychiatric and evaluation service to non-adjudicated patients IOWA STATE PENITENTIARY, FT. MADISON (319-372-5432): A maximum security prison facility for men emphasizing: academic and vocational education, prison industries, psychological counseling, cognitive skills training, and offender treatment MT. PLEASANT WOMEN'S UNIT, Mt. Pleasant (319-385-9511): A medium/minimum security institution for women emphasizing cognitive based programming including substance abuse, sex offender programming, thinking for a change, and academic programming. In addition, mental health re-entry and recreation services are provided NEWTON CORRECTIONAL FACILITY (641-792-7552): A medium security facility for men. Provides a free break time program for single parents to enjoy several hours of uninterrupted time (support) for running errands, studying, or simply having some alone time. Break Time is held throughout the year at Valley Community Center in West Des Moines. Based on survey data collected from single parents, Break Times are primarily held on Saturdays.

Ongoing support and crisis intervention to families. Family Consultation is designed to enhance the effectiveness of the parents by providing practical guidance and support. Crisis intervention is also available 24 hours a day to ensure safety and stability in the home.
Compass equips parents either through practical, specific one-on-one instruction or in a seminar format. This instruction assists parents and families to communicate and interact in a healthy and successful manner. The method goes beyond simple education and focuses on equipping parents with the individual skills needed to be successful.

Provides coupon booklets to assist older adults with purchasing fruits and vegetables. Coupons can be used at local Farmers Markets and roadside stands at approved locations. Offers to connect homeless or near-homeless Veterans and non-Veterans to community services through an annual resource fair. Also provided will be haircuts, hygiene products, clothing and food will be available.
