County level services provide direct emergency economic aid for vital necessities to veterans, their widow, and dependents, according to their needs. Personal visits for assistance and claims to housebound veterans or dependents. Must have an honorable or under honorable conditions discharge from active duty or wartime service. Must be a resident in Nebraska for the past one year and 6 months of that year in Hamilton County.

State level services do not require wartime service and assist in completing applications for the Nebraska Veterans Aid Fund, fee exempt fishing and hunting permits, applications to the Nebraska Veterans Homes, and waivers of tuition.

Federal level services provide and/or complete Veteran Administration forms for claims relating but not limited to service connected compensation, disability pension, widow's pension, burial allowance, grave markers/headstones, educational benefits, home loans, insurance, indebtedness, and character of service upgrades.

Provides a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator to help manage diabetes and eating disorders. In-person at Christopher location, but via telehealth for other locations.

Provides home health services including skilled nursing services, physical, occupational and speech therapy, and Home Health Aide services.

- Skilled nursing works with the physician to update the patient's plan of care, evaluates the patient's needs, performs skilled nursing procedures, educates the patient, family members and caregivers on disease processes, self-care techniques and prevention strategies, coordinates of patient care and services with the physician and other health care team members.

- Physical Therapy/ Occupational Therapy / Speech Therapy provided by a licensed therapist or therapy assistant. Therapist will provide specific information about the services and treatment the patient will receive. Medically necessary therapy services must be coordinated with one agency while the patient is receiving medically necessary home health services.

- Home Health Aide Services delivered under the licensed supervision of a registered nurse. Typical duties include bathing, shampooing hair, changing bed linens and assisting with other activities of daily living.

Family physicians.

Specialty clinics in general surgery, urology, cardiology, dermatology, orthopedics, podiatry, otolaryngology, psychiatry, wound care, pulmonology, OB/GYN, and pain management.

Offers sexual health and wellness services including free pregnancy tests, STD/STI testing, HIV testing and treatment (PrEP/PEP), Case Management, anal Pap Smears, free condoms, outreach and prevention education, and more.

Maintains county parks and recreation areas and provides hunter safety classes, camping, fishing and boating information. Outdoor recreational opportunities are available through county parks and outdoor wildlife areas.

Offers adult-supervised youth activities, including dances, youth trips, and other youth activities.

Provides general counseling services, including psychiatry and telehealth.

Offers library services and programs for youth including story times. Items that may be borrowed from or used in the library include DVDs, large print materials, audio books, magazines, and newspapers. The library also provides access to computers, WIFI access available, reference, and information services. Access to a copier, color printer and FAX machine are also available at the library (for a fee).

Offers to assist home owners or renters who have a disconnect notice or have missed a payment on a pay arrangement. Can also assist homeowners who have a back bill. If funds are available, households may receive emergency assistance with furnace repair/replacement (if a homeowner) and/or emergency delivery of deliverable fuel. Clients need to have been LIHEAP approved during our program year (October 1 through April 30) or they can complete a crisis application.

Provides a safe, confidential, low-barrier environment while providing care to intoxicated adults without going to jail or an emergency room.

Where it is in a child's best interest, the Department of Children and Family Services and the courts may place a foster child in the home of a willing and able relative who is not yet licensed as a foster home.  The Department of Children and Family Services always attempts to locate a relative for foster care placement.

Provides information, counseling, and assistance to Medicare recipients living in Pella and surrounding areas. Trained  staff and volunteers offer one-on-one guidance about Medicare, medicine, and other insurance options tailored to individual circumstances. Services include counseling on long-term care insurance, helping individuals evaluate benefit plans, select policies, or explore alternatives based on their needs. 

Additionally, the program provides Medicaid information and counseling, offering guidance on eligibility requirements, application processes, benefits, managed care options, and the connections between Medicaid and Medicare. Support may include enrollment assistance and referrals to providers who accept State Medicaid health insurance. Free "Welcome to Medicare" seminars are also available, typically held in May and September.

Collects property taxes, conducts annual tax sale for delinquent taxes, processes vehicle transactions, issues driver's licenses, and issues motor vehicle titles and registrations.

• Computer Literacy.

Nutrition education and counseling, supplemental foods, and information for women, children, and infants about other health services based on assessment findings.
