Provides education and training in approved training programs in local community colleges. Can help with the cost of tuition, books, fees, required tools, and any additional items required by the program. Program also provides a work experience and on-the-job training component. 

Work Experience offers subsidizes wages at a local employer for 1 to 6 months to help customer gain experience to gain permanent employment.

On-The-Job Training offers subsidizes half of hourly wage for a set period of time at a local employer with the intention of the employer retaining the customer after training is complete.

DODGE CORRECTIONAL FACILITY (515-574-4700): A medium security men’s facility, emphasizing: academic and vocational education, psychological services and counseling, cognitive skills training, substance abuse program, reentry programs, anger management, parenting programs, family violence program, and MIFVPP IOWA CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION FOR WOMEN, MITCHELLVILLE (515-725-5042): Serves as the reception and classification center for all females entering the adult institutional corrections system. After extensive testing and assessment of risk, health and cognitive skills, they are then processed on to other facilities. A medium security general population unit is in operation at IMCC, as well as, a special needs unit with both medical and mental health beds. Public Health Department for Crawford County residents. Divisions include:

Health care for all ages, including obstetrical, pediatrics, geriatrics, general medical care, women's health, reproductive health, prenatal, obstetrics and gynecology, and radiology/ultrasound.

Blood testing for lead.

HIV testing and counseling.

Tuberculosis prevention and case management.

Immunizations for children and adults, including flu vaccines. COVID vaccines available in office or at home.

Screening and treatment for cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cholesterol, and depression.

Routine services such as pap smears, school physicals, prenatal visits, well baby exams, physicals and other routine healthcare procedures. Follow-up visits for patients with diabetes, elevated blood lead levels, hypertension, behavioral health concerns, and other on-going health problems are also routine activities at the clinic.

Health education is integrated into each patient's visit. Nutrition, disease prevention and management are taught to patients individually and in groups. Educational follow-up, care coordination, management and peer education, including care for sexually transmitted diseases, latent tuberculosis, high lead levels, prenatal care, and care for chronic diseases (asthma, diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, and depression).

Specialist referrals for services not available at the clinic are made for all patients. Appointments for patients without insurance and/or limited income are made through Hope Medical Outreach Coalition volunteer physicians and facilities.

Offers all DHS offices across the state during open hours for people to use as a warm/cool place to stay.

Provides congregate and home delivered meals along with afternoon activities like cards, dominoes, and pool for seniors.

Food pantry and clothing closet available for residents.

Provides Emergency Housing, Rapid Rehousing, and Homeless Prevention services to eligible veterans and their families. Temporary financial assistance, navigation, case management, and connection to other appropriate services and programs will be provided by a supportive team.

Provides coupons to low income seniors to purchase fresh, locally grown produce at Nebraska Department of Agriculture certified farm stands.

Provides a wide variety of independent living services for individuals with disabilities with the objective of helping them to function more independently in family and community settings and to secure and maintain appropriate employment. Services may include information and referral services, referrals for attendant care, attendant recruitment and training programs, independent living skills training, assistance in meeting housing and transportation needs, peer counseling, transition from institutions into the community, deflection from institutional placement, transition from youth to adult services, and advice and guidance regarding legal rights and benefits eligibility.
