Promotes the humane treatment of hooved animals through education, legislation, investigation and, if necessary, legal intervention (impoundment). Also provides physical rehabilitation to animals that have endured severe neglect and abuse and then facilitates adoption to compassionate homes.

Animals targeted are: horses, sheep, goats, llamas, and pot-belly pigs.

Offers emotional support to families grieving the death of a precious child of any age and from any cause. TCF offers support to parents (and anyone in a guardianship role), grandparents, and adult siblings, and we have local chapters across the United States.

Offers free legal advice to the victims of the April 26 and May 21, 2024 severe storms who are experiencing legal problems due to the storms. Legal problems may include issues such as: FEMA denials, problems with insurance, landlord/tenant issues, unemployment benefits or denials, employment issues, contractor issues and identity theft. After calling 1-866-761-4692, callers will be connected to the Hotline voicemail. Callers should leave their name, phone number, brief description of their legal problem, and whether the issue is urgent. Callers will receive a call back from an experienced Iowa Legal Aid staff member to go through a screening. Callers who meet Iowa Legal Aid’s guidelines will be connected with an Iowa Legal Aid attorney.

For Christmas 2025:

The Christmas Store offers presents at affordable prices to families in need.

The store will be open Thu, Dec 11 (6 pm-8 pm), Fri, Dec 12 (9:30 am-8 pm), and Sat, Dec 13 (9:30 am-11 am).

Families select their shopping time at registration.

Applicants must be the legal guardian of each child being registered, and the child must live in the applicant's home.

Offers to help children in grades 4-12 develop knowledge and skills. Services include learning about citizenship, leadership, cooking, arts and crafts, mechanics and technology, horticulture, agriculture, and other subjects. To teach young people about these subjects, the 4-H program uses the learn-by-doing method of instruction.

Offers financial assistance to members of the American Legion with children ages 18 and under who lives with the Veteran. Services include needs rental assistance, utility assistance, food, and more.

Offers programs to provide the tools needed to increase awareness in the community on various issues, such as immigration, education, health, economic justice, among others.

Programs provided:

• Parent Mentor Program: Trains parents to be support teachers in the classroom and to be leaders in the community
• Mariachi Matters: After school music education program for youth that teaches basic music fundamentals and Mariachi ensemble performance

Baxter City Library is located inside the Baxter Community School. Provides a collection of adult, preschool, and school age reading materials. Magazines and internet access may also available. Open to the general public. 

Offers supported employment opportunities to individuals who have both the desire to work in an integrated work setting and employment abilities for this setting. The two main goals of these services are to give the individuals the opportunity to earn competitive wages and allow these wages to be earned in an integrated work setting.

Provides vocational training for persons who require a higher level of care than is available through other Hope Haven programs. Individuals receiving services must have a primary diagnosis of a mental disability and must be certified by the Iowa Foundation for Medical Care to be in need of this level of service.

Provides childcare for children ages 6 weeks through 4th grade.

Offers Medical Case Management for people living with HIV/AIDS. Provides connection to low-cost HIV medical care and medication services. Once enrolled, transportation assistance may be available for medical appointments, lab visits, and pharmacy trips. Food vouchers and access to local food pantries may also be available. Referrals to lawyers, legal organizations, and other supportive services can be provided.

Public transit service anywhere in Grundy County. Service to Joliet three times per day, including multiple different destinations. Includes paratransit services.

Offers an Early Head Start for children ages 3 and under. Parents are taught the stages of a child's development and activities they can do with their child to nurture her or his development. 

Offers the following: family programming for parents of children ages 0–5 twice a week; child care during sessions; parent room for breaks; guest speakers; parent discussions on child growth; evening parenting classes in fall and spring that meet DHS rules; in-home visits for families with parenting stress; parenting strategies; community resource connections; group sessions; skill-building and education; early childhood prevention for high-risk mothers from pregnancy through age five; transportation; developmental checks; referrals; case management; focus on child safety, child health, and positive parenting.

Care team that specializes in providing integrated primary medical and behavioral health care and social services to the LGBTQ+ community. Services provided:

- Assessments and referrals to Hormone Replacement Therapy.

- Hormone Replacement Therapy.

- Letters for surgery.

- Counseling.

- Family Medicine.

- Case management and care coordination.

- Nutrition education.

- OB/GYN.

- Enrollment assistance (insurance/ Medicare/Medicaid).

- Referrals for other needed services.

Recruits and prepares adoptive families. Offers services for identified adoptions, foster care adoptions, and post placement services.

Provides contractual home studies for domestic and international adoptions.

Choice pantry which allows people, once every 30 days, to pick out groceries for themselves and their families Three- to four-days' worth of food is provided and can include vegetables and fruits, spaghetti, soup, crackers, peanut butter, canned chili or meats, macaroni and cheese, packaged noodle dishes, cereal, bread, meat, and other miscellaneous donated items.  Personal hygiene items are available when in stock for those seeking such.

Infant diapers, Adult diapers and incontinence items, and baby layettes available upon request. The layettes contain basic items needed for a newborn, e.g., blankets, onesies, diapers, wipes, lotion, soap and shampoo, bibs, burp clothes, and one or two outfits of clothing. Availability dependent on donations.

Offers in-home homemaker services including errands/shopping assistance and in-home meal preparation.
