Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8) and Affordable Housing available._ Housing Choice Voucher Program provides housing in Sangamon County for families with low-income, older adults, and individuals with disabilities. Individuals are able to choose their own housing, not limited to units located in subsidized housing projects, as long as it meets the requirements of the program.

Housing Authority of Piatt County
Offers a public housing program, but does not participate in the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program, so voucher holders cannot port to this housing authority. Manages 60 units throughout Piatt County.

A community based organization for formerly incarcerated people and their loved ones. Services offered:
- A safe, stigma free environment.
- Peer mentoring.
- Assistance with employment searches.
- Job readiness training.
- Advocacy for individuals with felony convictions.
- Family reunification.
- Service referrals.
GoMad is a 19-week program, for 18-24 year olds, who spend 20 hours/week learning building construction skills and various academic subjects. There is a $200/week stipend for scholars' commitment to the program.

Southern Illinois Center for Independent Living - Carbondale
Programs that offer a wide variety of independent living services for individuals with disabilities with the objective of helping them to function more independently in family and community settings and to secure and maintain appropriate employment. Services may include: information and referral, skills training, case management, and peer counseling.
MCS Community Services
Provides low-income clients with rent and security deposit assistance to help a household maintain housing. To qualify for this program the client needs to be behind on their rent and the landlord has to have served them a legal eviction notice. The client will also be required to have some type of income (employment, social security, TANF, unemployment, etc.) to qualify for assistance. Babysitting (or some other type of working) for cash will NOT be accepted as income. A client can only be assisted every two years through this program.
Transitional Housing is designed to move homeless families from streets and shelters into temporary housing and to maximize self-sufficiency, this program is for families only and they must be homeless in order to receive assistance. Homeless means living on the street, in an emergency shelter, or a place not meant for human habitation (cars, parks, sidewalks, abandoned building, etc.) Occupancy is limited.
Supportive Housing is designed to move homeless families/individuals with documented disabilities from streets and shelters into temporary housing and to maximize self-sufficiency. Enrollment is limited based on availability.

Allows volunteers to accompany clients as they walk through and select the items that meet their needs. In addition to non-perishable foods, provides meat, dairy products, and fresh produce as they become available.
