Offers a variety of programs and services for individuals of all ages. The department also manages an extensive parks and trails system. Facilities include city parks, Municipal Swimming Pools and Valley Junction Activity Center. Recreational programs for preschoolers to senior citizens with activities for a variety of interests offered. Rooms may be available for rental at the Activity and Aquatic centers.

Provides a daytime hospitality center for those in need. Anyone needing access to a shower, laundry facilities, a hot meal, or clothing can come into the Romero House to get assistance.

Offers to help blind or low vision Iowans prepare for, obtain and retain employment in a wide variety of occupations. Applicants are determined eligible for services based upon their visual disability, their need for employment services and their intent to work. They will work with a VR Counselor to jointly identify an employment goal and the services needed  to achieve it.

Offers crisis services for those experiencing mental health crises, such as suicidal thoughts, panic attacks, and acute psychosis; substance use crises, such as overdoses and withdrawal symptoms; and everyday issues such as relationship challenges, financial challenges, job loss, and grief and loss.

Services include:

- Pathways to Success: Provides access to intensive care coordination and additional home- and community-based services for youth ages 20 and younger with complex behavioral health needs.

- The Living Room: Offers a safe, quiet space where people experiencing emotional distress can find respite staffed by Certified Recovery Support Specialists who offer peer support. Designed as an alternative safe space for clients who might otherwise use emergency department services for mental health needs.

- Mobile Crisis Response: Clinicians respond to calls through the CARES Line and the national 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline when there is immediate need for support with the goal of stabilizing children and adults in community settings or determining the appropriate referral.

- Crisis Co-Response Team (CCRT): Teams that pair clinicians with police departments and law enforcement to provide crisis support and follow-up behavioral healthcare for individuals involved with 911 and emergency response calls.

Provides a supervised release of adjudicated adult individuals in the community as a result of a suspended sentence, a deferred sentence, or a deferred judgment. Probation supervision includes behavior monitoring, restitution collection, drug/alcohol testing, community service supervision, and referrals to area resources for assistance.

Offers one bus pass every 30 days; the pass is an adult 10-ride pass with transfer.

Offers grief counseling for individuals going through the death of a loved one. Services include individual or group grief counseling. 

Provides in home services to assist individuals with living successfully with mental illness and developing the skills necessary to advance to a less restrictive, community-based setting.

Free Gambling addiction treatment for Nebraska residents who have a gambling addiction and their families.

Contracted with the State of Nebraska to provide gambling addiction treatment at no charge.

Pathfinder Support Services offers supportive, strength-based services to children and families by providing new skill acquisition and development of a child's parents or caretakers to promote positive parenting practices and healthy child development.

Pathfinder Support Services also offers the following services:

Provides home health care services that allow individuals to continue living in the home while receiving medical care. Offers skilled nursing and home health aides, as well as physical, occupational and speech therapy. A medical social worker can also connect individuals to the resources they need.

Offers to support families with obtaining adoption.

Provides a community meal during the school year.

Retention and recruitment of families who would like to adopt children through the child welfare system.

Provides intensive, family-focused, and community-based treatment program for behaviorally challenged youth. The primary goals are to decrease rates of antisocial behavior, clinical problems, improve functioning (e.g., family relations, school performance), and to reduce the use of out-of-home placements such as incarceration, residential treatment, and hospitalization.
