General Assistance, including rental and utility assistance.

Limited financial assistance provided to prevent rent eviction or utility disconnection. May also assist with rent or utility deposit, where appropriate. Utility assistance can also include cell phone bill help. 

First apply for assistance at the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (through ACCESSNebraska at www.accessnebraska.ne.gov) for an eligibility determination and referrals to community agencies with Letter of Eligibility, then schedule an appointment with the Community Service Coordinator.

Collects property taxes, conducts annual tax sale for delinquent taxes, processes vehicle transactions, issues driver's licenses, and issues motor vehicle titles and registrations

Provides the supplemental food program for income eligible pregnant, postpartum or breastfeeding women, infants and children ages birth through 5 years. WIC provides nutrition assessment and education, food or infant formula to help meet a family’s food needs, and breastfeeding support.

Offers to rent and sell medical equipment for individuals in need to maintain independence in the comfort of their home. Technicians deliver and install the equipment and spend the necessary amount of time teaching people and caregivers how to use the new equipment and where to call for assistance should the need arise.

Provides trained volunteers, as well as, counseling, 24 hour on call nursing, social services, chaplains, and personal care professionals to help provide care for a terminally ill person in their home during the last 6 months of the patient's life. Coordination of needed home health care services including: pharmacy, dietary, physical, respiratory, speech, and occupational therapies, and the needed home medical equipment. Inpatient hospice care available at several area nursing homes and hospitals.

Provides support services to individuals caring for a Veteran with serious illness or disabilities. For qualifying individuals, access to training, counseling, or respite care may be available.

Offers FIP (Family Investment Program) a cash assistance program for children and their families who have low income, also available to relatives caring for children whose parents are not in the home. The goal of FIP is to help families leave poverty and become self supporting, can participate for up to 60 months. FIP is Iowa's Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program.
