Offers 24/7 emergency call service, as well as training in how to safely and effectively use medical equipment at home. Mobility support and rehabilitation aids also available, along with respiratory support devices, sleep care devices, and women's health aids breast pumps and post mastectomy supplies and custom fitting consultations.

Reimburses for funeral and burial expenses when a person's resources and all other sources of payment are less than the DHS standard payment rates. The maximum amount that DHS will pay is $1370 for a funeral and $686 for a cremation/burial.

LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) provides supplemental help for the winter heating bills November 1st through April 30th: LIHEAP Crisis Assistance when funding available provides in a life-threatening situation fuel, heaters, furnace repair; furnace replacement for homeowners when funds available. Applications are accepted October 1-April 30 for elderly or disabled households and November 1-April 30 for all other households. May have some crisis funding available outside the normal LIHEAP months, call local County Outreach Office for availability of funding.

Assistance for eligible individuals to get ID and birth certificates.

Obtaining the required documents for a birth certificate (and other forms of identification) can take several weeks to months.

Offers sexual health and wellness services including free pregnancy tests, STD/STI testing, HIV testing and treatment (PrEP/PEP), Case Management, anal Pap Smears, free condoms, outreach and prevention education, and more.

Offers, as resources allow, to help refugees and asylees reach economic self-sufficiency and to them with any problems, interests and concerns they may have. The Bureau of Refugee Services works to serve as a central clearinghouse in order to refer refugees and asylees to any resource necessary and available to them. The Bureau is the service agency for all refugees enrolled in FIP, the state welfare reform program. Now offering a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) program. This program will help participants prepare for the class, enroll into the DMACC CDL program at no cost, and obtain a job after completion. Participants will also qualify for “Jump Start” training specially designed to help English Language Learners.

Provides police and dispatch services for the residents of Heyworth. Responsible for emergency assessment and response, including coordination with correctional facilities for the detention, confinement, and management of individuals involved in criminal offenses.

Thanksgiving and Christmas 2025:

Sign-up for Thanksgiving food box, Christmas food box, and Christmas gifts (for qualifying children) takes place in October only.  Starts Oct 1, 2025, and ends Oct 30, 2025.

Applicants must bring documentation identifying each member of the household.

Offers a food pantry that provides nutritional food for those in an emergency situation. Visits are limited to once a week.
