Comprehensive reproductive health center providing prenatal and family planning (birth control) services. Other services include free pregnancy testing for women of any age, testing/treatment of sexually transmitted diseases for males and females, hormone replacement therapy, sterilization, education programs on sexual responsibility, female camp, school and sport physicals, and annual examinations for adult women. Bus tokens may be available for those with transportation needs.

Currently enrolling Iowa women in a program that provides free birth control services to those who have no insurance and meet income qualifications. Can provide long acting reversible birth control to any woman who medically qualifies for little to no out-of-pocket expense.

Teen pregnancy prevention program addresses questions relating to sexuality issues such as pregnancy, abstinence, birth control methods, and sexually-transmitted diseases. Anyone may request a free Teen Pack or Parent Pack, which include information on teen parenting, communication, birth control methods, and sexually transmitted diseases.

Program is centered around research-based horticulture and gardening knowledge and practices to educate people and coordinate projects that promote healthy communities. Register for the core course as a Pro-Hort trainee if you are not interested in volunteering. Master Gardener Program is looking for volunteers who can make a commitment to the program – 40 volunteer hours and 40 education hours in the first two years. Then 20 volunteer hours and 10 education hours after the Master Gardener training.

Offers a 6 week group program designed to help individuals establish regular patterns of walking. The program is endorsed by the Centers for Disease Control as an evidence-based program for older adults. 
  • Ames Program: held at the Ames Community Center Gym - 515 Clark Avenue, Ames, Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 1:30 pm-2:30 pm
  • Story City Program: held at the Mary Greeley Lifetime Fitness Center - 812 Elm Avenue, Story City, Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 11 am-12 pm
The group program consists of 3 self-paced, one hour long walking sessions each week for 6 weeks, with a goal of increasing walking ability each week. Sessions are held at predetermined times and locations to help create a consistent walking routine and to allow interactions with peers and program leaders.    Must be able to stand without increasing pain for at least 10 minutes, must indicate your safety to begin exercising by completing a pre-exercise screening survey or receiving a referral from a health care provider indicating your safety to begin exercising, and must be willing to complete several surveys and fitness assessments as part of the research project.
