Senior Services - A Division of Effingham City/County Committee on Aging
Outreach staff visit older persons or their caregivers to inform them about available benefits and services. Outreach Services may include:
- Encouraging older persons to participate in senior programs.
- Assisting older persons in gaining access to needed services (Benefit Access Application, Medicare Part D, etc.).
- Follow up with older persons and agencies to determine whether services have been received and the needs of the older person are met.
- Provide client advocacy to secure benefits.

This program will help participants prepare for the class, enroll into the DMACC CDL program at no cost, and obtain a job after completion. Participants will also qualify for “Jump Start” training specially designed to help English Language Learners.

Habitat for Humanity of the Rockford Area
Sells homes to qualified families who do not currently own a home. The family receives a no-interest loan from Rockford Habitat to purchase the home. The family will pay the loan back over the next 20 or so years. Loan length and mortgage payment are based on individual family income. The average mortgage payment is around $500 a month. Families must volunteer at least 200 sweat equity hours during the construction of their home and take three financial management courses prior to the closing.
To qualify for the program, 4 categories are evaluated:
- Residency.
- Ability to pay.
- Need.
- Willingness to partner.

Trained crisis responders answer calls and texts 24 hours a day, to listen to and help anyone who is feeling depressed, stressed, hopeless, thinking about hurting themself or others, dealing with alcohol/substance use, and more.
Service is free and private.
