Offers a program for parents and youth individuals ages 10-14 to work together and build relationships. Participants will practice skills, play learning games, and do family projects in highly interactive sessions. Sessions are designed to increase family bonding, build positive communication skills, and solve problems together. 

Helps to prevent disease and improve the quality of life in Jo Daviess County. Programs include:

-- Food protection.

-- Potable water supply.

-- Private sewage disposal.

Maintains and provides access to official real estate documents, contracts, articles of incorporation, partnerships, state and federal tax liens, military records, birth, divorce, death, and marriage records. Offers services for issuing and renewing licenses for ATVs, boats, snowmobiles, hunting, and fishing, as well as marriage licenses and certificates. Operates as a Passport acceptance facility with photo services and processes military records for tax exemptions and benefits.

Additionally, issues public health permits to certify compliance with health laws for various facilities and institutions. Services include the establishment of standards, review of applications, issuance of permits, and enforcement of compliance through inspections and monitoring.

Provides the city government departments and other city information.

Provides general inpatient, outpatient, and emergency hospital services.

Offers the Adventure Pass, a program designed to help individuals and families check out area attractions for free. The pass can be checked out with a library card and allows free admittance to the Blank Park Zoo, Science Center of Iowa, the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden, and the Pella Historical Society and Museums. The Adventure Pass must be printed by the individual and presented upon admission into the attractions along with a photo ID. Each pass allows admission for 2 adults and 2 children.

DCFS has the primary responsibility of protecting children and strengthening families through the investigation and intervention of suspected child abuse or neglect by parents and other caregivers.

DCFS links families with community services to address struggles families are having, offers preventative services to referred families in an attempt to keep family units together to address findings of abuse/neglect, and works with families who have children under the legal custody of DCFS while working to reunify families when possible or provide a permanent home for children.

As part of its duties, DCFS also licenses and monitors all Illinois child welfare agencies, child care agencies, domestic and international adoption providers, and group homes in the state.

Advises and aids veterans and their dependents in applying for federal benefits and burial benefits through compensation or pension claims. Emergency financial assistance for basic necessities such as rent or utility payments, burial and food may be available. Can also assists with applications for benefits made available by federal, state or local laws.

Activities and tutoring during the school year.

Offers the following Community Services: 

Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) provides services for adults with intellectual or mental disabilities, a qualifying brain injury or handicapping condition. Individualized support is provided in the client's home or other community-based settings and is available 24 hours.

Home-Based Habilitation Services (HBHS) are designed to assist individuals with serious and persistent mental illness with the acquisition, retention or improvement in skills related to living in the community. Services assist in the daily living needs of the client and can be provided 24 hours a day.

Community Support Services (CSS) provide integrated services and supports to persons with a serious mental illness. Interdisciplinary teams provide assessments and service planning, monitoring of mental health symptoms, medication management, problem-solving assistance, coordination of appointments and transportation and support.

Private practice offering individual therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, play therapy, theraplay, EMDR, and Critical Incident Stress Management for children, teens, and adults.

Services include:

- 24-hour nationwide hotline providing short-term counseling and crisis intervention to children and families experiencing any type of difficulty in their lives.

- Website offering an online resource for kids/teens where they can communicate with trained counselors by text, email, online chat, or by calling the hotline. Also offers tips on how to deal with challenging situations, a bulletin board where teens ask questions regarding different topics, and journal pages where teens can download and print worksheets to help them work through issues.

Provides school-based mentoring for elementary-age students through one-to-one interactions with adult mentors. Services include connecting students with adult mentors who meet with them during the school day in settings such as the classroom, playground, gym, or other designated school areas. Activities may include talking about school, completing homework, reading, playing games, participating in recreational activities, and other age-appropriate activities based on the student and mentor's interests. Mentoring schedules are coordinated with the participating school and may vary by program and student needs.

Offers one bus pass every 30 days; the pass is an adult 10-ride pass with transfer.

Provides food through the food pantry program, which is a drive-through process. Families do not leave their vehicles and are provided a food order based on the number of people in a household.
