Provides energy assistance for eligible low income families in which a benefit is paid directly to the utility companies on behalf of eligible households, or directly to renters if the utility costs are included in their rent.

Some applicants may qualify for the Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP), where an eligible client pays a percentage of their income, receives a monthly benefit towards their utility bill, and receives a reduction in overdue payments for every on-time payment they make by the bill due date. Provides services to the local Veterans community. Services include free VA claims assistance for all veterans and their survivors, advocacy services, rent and utility payment assistance, food expense assistance, prescription expense assistance, and transportation assistance.

Also offers service officers accredited by the VA to prepare, present, and prosecute claims for VA Disability and Pension benefits on behalf of veterans and/ or their families. The VAC is also available to assist with identifying and applying for other benefits or programs offered by the VA such as VA Healthcare.

Provides a supportive arts-based community for youth (ages 12-19) who have involvement in the juvenile court system, whether they are labeled delinquent, CINA (Child In Need of Assistance) or in custody of the Iowa Department of Human Services (homeless, in shelter or foster care systems). Artist mentors help define a safe space and encourage youth artists to find their creative voice. These weekly workshops are based on young people’s individual interests.

Family support for families prenatal until school age.

Home based parent education is a Parents as Teachers and Early Head Start affiliated program.  Provides in home visitation including parenting support and education. Certified Parent Educators provide personalized visits, group connections, and a resource network to support families through the most critical years of a child’s development.

Assists with increasing parent knowledge of early childhood development, support children’s learning, connect families with needed resources, and empower families.

Provides developmental screenings, mental health screening/maternal depression screening, parent/child activity groups, safe sleep education, and breastfeeding support.

Offers 24-one bedroom units & 12-two bedroom units.

Provides help with rent and rent deposit assistance. Can also help with financial counseling. 

Vocational rehabilitation services include vocational guidance and counseling; training, tuition, and equipment; occupational equipment and supplies; assistance for establishing small businesses (NBE); job placement and follow-up services; and medical services.

Orientation and adjustment center.

Consultants for people who are blind or visually impaired.

Training in cane travel and independent living skills.

Home training.

Supportive services and transitional services for youth who are proceeding from high school to college.

Boxed food for two meals, based on family size.

Provides a cohesive partnership among the communities and Fire Departments to reduce the number of fire injuries and deaths, by providing evaluation, education, and redirection assistance to the children who exhibit fire setting behavior at no cost to the families affected. Trained providers will connect a child (or youth) to appropriate resources in the community, this can include fire safety education or professional counseling services when necessary. Provides supports and services for families to help their children meet developmental milestones.

Provides fresh, home-cooked meals to anyone who struggles with food insecurity. Usually a hot entree, beverage, and baked dessert.

Offers library services. Items that may be borrowed from or used in the library include books, music recordings, videos and DVDs, audiobooks, computer software, magazines, and newspapers. The library also has computers and Wi-Fi for public access. There are also library sponsored programs for all ages offered.

Monthly Men’s and Women’s Wellness Coffee Hours are held in both Lincoln and Omaha, intended to provide a welcoming and supportive environment for individuals who have been incarcerated and their family members. These gatherings serve as a space for healing, empowerment, and meaningful community connection, helping participants navigate the challenges of reentry and personal growth. Through open discussions and shared experiences, attendees find encouragement and solidarity. Guest speakers are invited to present valuable community resources to promote overall well-being and successful reintegration.
