Offers to assist individuals who have been diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness in developing and maintaining their basic daily living skills, coping skills, problem solving skills, manage their illness, and live as independently as possible within the least restrictive environment.

Services may include skill building activities, long-term case management, group and individual counseling, advocacy, psychiatry, employment assistance.

State contracted agency providing jobs, education and training for people who have significant barriers to employment, have lost their jobs or are just entering the workforce. Helps ADC/TANF beneficiaries meet requirements so they may continue to receive benefits.

Emergency operations center for the County, which handles emergency response incidents, including accidents, fires, floods, storms and other disasters. Also responsible for requesting federal assistance after a disaster.

Offers a free laundry service once a month for anyone who comes to a local laundromat. Provides washer pods, dryer sheets and the quarters for the machines. 

Provides a food assistance program for women, infants, and children. Program helps pregnant women, new mothers, and young children eat well and stay healthy.

Services include:

-- Nutritious foods

-- Referrals to other services

WIC Farmers' Market Program:

Eligible WIC participants receive summer farmers' market vouchers.

Provides temporary assistance for basic needs, including rent/lot rent, utilities, and food vouchers for eligible county residents. Cannot be on Subsidized Housing, or a Veteran.

Additionally, the program may provide financial assistance for burial or cremation expenses to help families cover funeral and interment costs. 

Public education curriculum for K-12 students.

Preschool available for ages 3 and 4 years at David City and Bellwood.

Special education services for qualified students.

Offers a safe, fun atmosphere that supports frail, physically or cognitively impaired adults.

Interactive workshop lead by trained facilitators that help persons living with Chronic Diseases or Diabetes make personal health choices to help manage symptoms.

General Assistance helps with rent and utility payments that prevent eviction or utility shut-off. Funding for direct cremation with no services for residents, when other resources are not available.

Provides individuals and families with low-to-moderate incomes with financial and asset-specific education and 4:1 savings match for one of the following purchases/investments:

- Home

- Vehicle

- Small business start-up/expansion

- Post-secondary education

Services for adults with mental illness.

- Day rehabilitation programs provide daily living skills, pre-vocational, social skills training, and more.

- Community support services provide one-to-one assistance in independent living.

- Residential rehabilitation provides a structured skill-building program within a group home setting.

- Vocational services provides work-related training, both on and off the job, to assist individuals with mental illness to choose, obtain, and retain employment.

- Peer Specialists are trained to assist those newly diagnosed with a mental health issue or are in the midst of recovery. Also connects clients with resources and programs.

- Assertive Community Treatment services provide a clinical team that delivers treatment, rehabilitation, and support services for persons in the community.

- Case management services, including assistance in applying for entitlements/financial aid, and coordination of services.

- Community housing (e.g. apartments) linked with mental health rehabilitation and support services.

- Family education services offer education and support to family members affected by mental illness. Individual and family sessions available. Family to Family classes offered every eight weeks.

- Psychiatric Outpatient including medication management and counseling coupled with primary health care services. Also includes care coordination and health and wellness services.

- First Episode Psychosis services for persons 14-34 years of age and experiencing first time with psychosis.

- Crisis Services provides immediate mental health support for people of all ages to help resolve a crisis situation. The team will come to the client as a mobile crisis team as needed and provide follow-up support after the crisis. Contact is available from a crisis team member and/or therapist within 24-48 hours after delivering crisis services.

- Peer support specialists provide peer navigation services for individuals who are struggling or are in recovery from opioid addiction.

Offers the Back2Work program, one-on-one job coaching, the Immersion Reentry program, the DOT Knowledge (written) Test, and assistance with benefits applications. Also Provides a HiSET Prep course to improve skills in preparation of the test, and Financial Literacy program designed to give students a closer look at their financial habits, and help them create goals and give them tools to  create an effective budget. 

Provides supported employment services for individuals with disabilities to obtain and maintain community employment.

Provides a Christmas Eve dinner from 12 pm-2 pm to persons in need. Sign-up begin December 1 2024, and continues until the event is full. Please call the church or email Lu to register. Delivery is available to ONLY Cedar Rapid residents who are housebound. Must provide address. Deliveries will be made on December 24, 2024, (11 am-1 pm) Call the church to register.

Provides comprehensive prevention and intervention services to enable students with diverse needs to achieve their maximum learning potential through collaboration with, and support to the families, district personnel, and community agencies. Services include adapted physical education program, audiology services, deaf and hard of hearing program, occupational therapy, physical therapy, school psychological services, school social work services, speech therapy services, visual impairment services, and early childhood program.
