The child and mentor meet in the community and spend time doing different activities they both enjoy and/or interact on any video conferencing platform that is not observable by BBBS. The participants commit to meeting for a minimum of 4 hours in 2-4 outings per month for a minimum of 12 months.

Can also work with the various school districts within the 5 county service area if there are children in the district that would like a Big Brother or Sister.

GED Program provides instruction in language arts, science, social studies, and math to prepare students to complete their State of Illinois High School Diploma (GED), and to assist the interested students in preparing for enrollment in college courses, training programs, and employment.

ESL Program can help students improve their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Classes range from providing basic language skills for beginners to helping advanced students prepare for high education, training, or a career.

Academic ESL Program program is designed to assist advanced-level, non-native English speakers to prepare for and transition to further education at RCV, career readiness, and success skills are included.

For Thanksgiving 2025, the Meal Bag Giveaway is held on Saturday, November 22nd, from 8 am until supplies run out. The event is located at the FaithWorks Pantry, South Entrance, at FaithWestwood.

Provides one Meal Bag per household. Recipient must be present to receive a bag (no proxies). Bags are given out on a first come-first serve basis, so it is recommended to arrive early.

YSS - Ames

Provides counseling and therapy services, including evaluation, assessment, and diagnosis for children and families experiencing behavioral and mental health issues.

Services include specialized support for runaway and homeless youth, offering emotional guidance and assistance in resolving underlying issues. Therapeutic interventions include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma recovery and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to address thoughts and cognitions as behaviors. Multisystemic Therapy (MST) is provided for juvenile offenders as an alternative to residential treatment, focusing on improving family relations, peer associations, and school performance.

The program also offers Parent Child Interactive Therapy (PCIT), which uses real-time coaching to help parents manage childhood aggression and defiance while strengthening the parent-child relationship. Additionally, play therapy is utilized to help children express emotions and to assist in diagnosing the source of behavioral difficulties.
