Financial assistance, including rent assistance to prevent eviction and utility assistance to prevent shut-offs.

Financial assistance available (when funding is available) to income eligible applicants who have suffered a loss of income through an event that was out of their control. These funds can be used to pay one month rent (no deposits) for those in danger of being evicted from their home due to nonpayment of rent. Assistance is also available to help with water bills.

Offers a food pantry. Also operates the Commodities Supplemental Food Program.

Provides a form of case management which assists at-risk and/or abused older adults ages 60 and older to identify their risks and find ways to reduce or eliminate those risks. 

Connects adults aged 55 and older with meaningful volunteer opportunities.

Offers MEDICAID (Medical Assistance) to people who are low income and aged (65 and older), disabled (including blindness), women needing treatment for cancer or pre-cancerous conditions of breast or cervix (who have been screened and diagnosed through the Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection program and who do not have credible health insurance coverage), children under 21 years of age, pregnant women, parents or other caretaker relatives of children under age 18 (or under age 19 if they are attending secondary school and are expected to graduate before age 19). Medicaid will pay the costs of Health care, Dental care, In-home health care, Nursing facility care or Residential facility care.

Offers scholarships, amounts are dependent of funding levels, to income eligible individuals who are planning to attend accredited Illinois University, community college, technical or vocational schools. Preference is given to applicants of racial or ethnic minorities.

Provides supervision of juvenile and adult offenders in DeWitt County.

Provides library services including a catalog of books and A/V materials (including DVDs, music CDs, and audio books) available to the public. Also offers free access to the internet (wireless) and programs for all ages.

Provides legal services in order to help with elder abuse. Services include helping with financial exploitation, guardianship of adults to ensure health care, nursing home and home care issues, powers of attorney and other advance directives, and SSI and social security denials, cessations, terminations, overpayments, and garnishments.

Works to end homelessness one person at a time. Offering seven homes across the community, where individuals enrolled in our 12- to 18-month Pathways to Progress Program receive support. This intensive program follows a four-phase system, addressing seven key areas of instability to help participants regain stability and independence.

Coordinates and administers state codes related to environmental health and public safety. Services include issuing septic permits, inspecting septic systems, issuing well permits for water wells and geothermal wells for heating and cooling, inspecting wells, and conducting water testing.
