Out-of-home placement option for children and adolescents whose special needs hinder their success in a traditional foster care placement.

- Offers 30 hours of training, in-service training, professional consultation, 24 hour on call support services, respite services for foster parents, and performance evaluations.

- Foster parents are reimbursed for the child's basic needs, with an additional stipend for providing treatment.

The availability and accessibility of community-based services allows individuals to remain in their own environment while receiving services that meet their needs in the least restrictive environment.

Provides Emergency Housing, Rapid Rehousing, and Homeless Prevention services to eligible veterans and their families. Temporary financial assistance, navigation, case management, and connection to other appropriate services and programs will be provided by a supportive team.

Provides harm reduction and prevention services, including: STI testing, safe sex supplies, syringe exchange, opioid reversal kits, and PrEP enrollment.

Provides Money Management services through Representative Payeeship and Budgeting Assistance. For individuals who cannot manage their money and who have no other organization or individual who will perform this function.

Offers a boxing program for individuals diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Individuals engage in drills that emphasize footwork, punching combinations, and agility, promoting physical conditioning and helping to combat symptoms such as tremors and rigidity in a supportive environment.

Offers MEDICAID (Medical Assistance) to people who are low income and aged (65 and older), disabled (including blindness), women needing treatment for cancer or pre-cancerous conditions of breast or cervix (who have been screened and diagnosed through the Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection program and who do not have credible health insurance coverage), children under 21 years of age, pregnant women, parents or other caretaker relatives of children under age 18 (or under age 19 if they are attending secondary school and are expected to graduate before age 19). Medicaid will pay the costs of Health care, Dental care, In-home health care, Nursing facility care or Residential facility care.

Hospice exists in the belief that through appropriate care and the promotion of a caring community, patients and families/caregivers will be free to attain a degree of mental preparation for death that is satisfying to them.

Offers adult probation services, juvenile court services, truancy mediation for local schools, adult community service monitoring, work program and alcohol diversion program.

Offers help to first and second-time parents managing the demands of caring for a child during the first three years of life. Family-support workers visit the home to encourage new parents by building on their strengths, emphasizing the joys of parenting and easing concerns with education and hands-on assistance. Services can start before the baby is born with prenatal home visits by a doula.

Offers the Adventure Pass, a program designed to help individuals and families check out area attractions for free. The pass can be checked out with a library card and allows free admittance to the Blank Park Zoo, Science Center of Iowa, Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden, Reiman Gardens, Museum of Danish America, and Des Moines Children's Museum. The Adventure Pass must be printed when presented upon admission into the attractions along with a photo ID.

Offers, as resources allow, to help refugees and asylees reach economic self-sufficiency and to them with any problems, interests and concerns they may have. The Bureau of Refugee Services works to serve as a central clearinghouse in order to refer refugees and asylees to any resource necessary and available to them. The Bureau is the service agency for all refugees enrolled in FIP, the state welfare reform program. Now offering a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) program. This program will help participants prepare for the class, enroll into the DMACC CDL program at no cost, and obtain a job after completion. Participants will also qualify for “Jump Start” training specially designed to help English Language Learners.
