Maintains county parks and recreation areas and provides hunter safety classes, camping, fishing and boating information. Outdoor recreational opportunities are available through county parks and outdoor wildlife areas.

Provides grief support. 

-- The First Steps Grief Support Group: A bereavement group for anyone who has experienced loss. Offers support as the first steps are taken in dealing with a loss.

-- Living Through Grief: The group uses videos, books, speakers, and discussions to help participants learn more about the grief process, share stories, and regain hope for healing.

The First Steps Grief Support Group meets in the Conference Dining Room at FHN Memorial Hospital, and the Living Through Grief meets in the Deaconess Room at FHN Memorial Hospital.

Offers law enforcement services to the Mahaska County area. Issues gun/firearm permits, runs requested background checks, and manages the county Jail.

Offers new or nearly new clothing for informal, casual, school, and work as donations come in. Includes linen items such as sheets, blankets, and towels when donated. Also offers bra fitting assistance. 

Funding for water/sewer assistance is limited.

When funding is available, it can provide assistance in the form of benefit payments made directly to water vendors on behalf of households for past-due charges, fees, and taxes for drinking and wastewater services.

Provides food pantry items.

Provides Emergency Housing, Rapid Rehousing, and Homeless Prevention services to eligible veterans and their families. Temporary financial assistance, navigation, case management, and connection to other appropriate services and programs will be provided by a supportive team.

Offers primary care including family medicine, internal medicine, infectious disease management, pediatric care, OB/GYN services, prenatal and postpartum coordinated care with labor and delivery, immunizations and preventative screenings, and chronic care.

Provides a 28-day, intensive, individualized hospital program for addiction treatment and detoxification. Based on the 12-step model, patients are assisted in building the skills and resources necessary for sustained recovery. Services include:

- Inpatient Medical Detoxification.

- Dual Diagnosis Treatment.

• Residential Treatment.

• Intensive outpatient programs.

• Partial hospitalization program.

Partners with patients to provide comprehensive healthcare with the patient's personal care team, which includes their primary care provider, a nurse, and other clinical staff who serve the patient based on their needs.

Discusses available resources, encouraging the patient to set personal goals, and offers high-quality health care.

Provides seniors and/or disabled individuals minor home improvements to help remove barriers that may affect their health and safety in their home (such as repair of non-working heating system, mobility ramp, etc.). Applicant must be the homeowner and live in the home.

Provides equine-assisted experiences to enhance the quality of life and cultivate personal growth through therapeutic, educational, recreational, and social development for persons with disabilities.

Programs improve physical capabilities and functional skills, as well as providing students with leisure time, physical activity, and social interaction.

Assists students who need additional credits. Assists school administrators in finding an appropriate program to meet the needs of at-risk youth who are not functioning in the traditional education environment.

All Alternative School Programs contain the following components:

• Safety: School uniforms, dress requirements, daily check-ins through metal detectors, and closed campus environment.

• Behavior Management Program: Student success plans, individual education plans, behavior level systems, attendance requirements, effort grades, collaboration with social agencies, and court services.

  - Standardized Curriculum: Instruction in math, science, language arts, and social studies at all grade levels. Course objectives are based on Illinois Learning Standards. Use of Internet and computer daily in all programs.

  - Work Coop and Community Service: Students are involved in work coop instruction and receive credit for community service activities.

Provides health screenings including:

• Childhood lead poisoning
• Newborn screenings
• Tuberculosis (TB)
• Genetic screening (not testing)
• Pregnancy testing
