Youth services provides courses on topics including first aid for children, disaster preparedness, water safety, and babysitting for children. Also offers youth volunteer opportunities and service learning projects for middle and high school students.

Mental health services include mental health assessments, depression/anxiety/mental illness counseling, family therapy, stress/anger management counseling, trauma/abuse counseling, parenting and relationship counseling.

Substance abuse services include substance abuse evaluations, adolescent substance abuse groups, adult intensive outpatient (IOP), adult relapse prevention, drug court provider, family court provider, voucher provider and priority population: women who are pregnant and IV users.

The following medical services are offered:

• HIV/AIDS/STD counseling, testing, referral, and partner notification offers a range of services to prevent the spread of disease and promote public health. Also includes diagnosis, treatment, and health education.
• Family Planning Program serves women of reproductive age in a confidential clinic setting through the provision of low-cost STD screenings, health education, counseling, and contraception.

Information about pests, food production (including gardening), turf and landscape, and water quality.

Critical access hospital with an emergency room, lab, and inpatient geriatric psychiatric unit.

Emergency services also include Lifeline Personal Emergency Response, which transmits alerts via phone lines for clients who use the equipment.

Offers initiatives aimed at encouraging and preparing participants for post-secondary education.

The Upward Bound Program includes a six-week summer program and a follow-up during the school year, providing classes to enhance skills and knowledge in key academic areas, with opportunities for older students to earn college credit and, in some cases, high school credit. The program also includes tutoring, which is mandatory for students earning less than a C in any academic course, as well as field trips, cultural, and social activities.

The Talent Search Program provides career, financial aid, academic, and personal counseling, along with information on post-secondary institutions, college applications, financial aid, career options, course selection, ACT/SAT preparation, and study skills. Funds are available for tutoring and travel expenses to visit post-secondary institutions. Participants also have access to field trips and cultural events. Both programs aim to support students, including those with exceptional abilities or talents, by offering enriched educational opportunities and resources to foster their academic and personal growth. Eligibility is open to first-generation college students, individuals from families with income below 150% of the poverty guideline, and U.S. citizens or permanent residents aged 12 and older who demonstrate potential for success in post-secondary education.

Embrace Iowa is a project through the Des Moines Register that is administered by Community Action Agencies in the state and is only accessible during a certain time period. Requests that are considered for this project may include beds, clothing, car repairs, medical expenses (including pharmacy, dental and corrective lenses), furniture, rent, utilities, home repairs, household items, appliances, and miscellaneous other things (computer, etc.) If there is not a service available to assist someone, this could be a possibility for them to apply for these funds during this time period. The maximum dollar amount awarded per household is $750.

Offers workshops that teach individuals and families how to get more out of money and how to save money for financial goals. This is a series of workshops that are a blend of instruction and hands on activities so each concept can be mastered. 

Offers supportive care. Patients may receive visits or phone calls from a nurse practitioner, a nurse, or a social worker. Supportive care offers visits at FHN offices and at FHN Memorial Hospital, in long-term care facilities, and in the home for those unable to travel to the clinic due to physical disabilities or distressing symptoms.
