Offers both short and long-term experiences for youth. Short-term experiences include afterschool programs, camps, school-sponsored activities, conferences, and other events. Long-term experiences include learning communities in agriculture such as county clubs.

Provides a variety of services to assist individuals with disabilities to live independently in the community. It is an individualized process where SCICIL staff and the client work together as partners to determine an independent living plan to achieve the desired goals. Services may also include rent rebates and job application assistance.

Maintains official real estate documents, contracts, articles of incorporation, partnerships, state tax liens, military records, birth, divorce and death records. Offers fishing, ATV, Boat and Snowmobile licenses/renewals and a Passport acceptance facility and photo service. Military Records for tax exemptions and benefits also available. Can also offer marriage licenses and certificates.

Provides three residential care facilities that serve individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. The residential care facilities offer people with mental illness and disabilities assistance with day-to-day living activities, with potential transition out of the facility and into independent living.

Provides free food boxes every single Wednesday for older adults, individuals with disabilities, families with children, and low-income individuals. Individuals may receive food two times a month.

Provides law enforcement services to the county.

Provides temporary pet food assistance to individuals experiencing financial difficulties. The amount of food provided is based on pet's breed, age and ideal weight. Individuals must have owned the pet for at least six months; individuals may not add additional pets to the original application. Pets must be eight months or older. Pets must show proof of spay/neuter by the second month of participating in the program. Donations of pet food and supplies are accepted on Saturdays from 9 am-2 pm. 

Offers a weight management program to veterans. Program provides weight-loss support groups to assist in weight loss, healthy eating tips and cooking classes, behavioral change strategies to assist in living a healthier lifestyle.

Offers SERVSAFE® classes for food service professionals, providing comprehensive training on food hazards, proper food handling practices, and regulatory requirements to ensure food safety and prevent foodborne-illness outbreaks. 

Provides food for those in need once per week. Regular distribution day is Thursday. Food can be distributed any day on an emergency basis. Preference is to get clients on the Thursday schedule.

Assists people who need help with rent, utilities, and funeral services.

The assistance program is designed to provide short-term emergency type assistance to persons lacking the resources to meet basic needs for energy and shelter. It is not intended to provide ongoing or long-term aid to any individual and/or family.

Provides self-sufficiency advocates who work with foster care alumni ages 18–21 to support stability and self-sufficiency in six key areas: education, employment, housing, health, life skills, and relationships.

Information and education on emergency disaster preparedness.

Assists in managing Homeland Security Programs for Lt. Governor.

Educational information offered related to disaster preparedness and recovery, beef cattle production, and cropping and water systems.

Offers to collect, process, screen, store, and distribute donated human milk to those who need it. Distribution is across the U.S. and donation sites are available across Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Nebraska.

Provides assistance to individuals and families who are facing a crisis situation with food and/or shelter. Homeless prevention services can assist families who are facing eviction or utility disconnection in preventing their family from becoming homeless. Crisis funds may be available for one month’s rent, utilities, or groceries for a short period of time. This assistance is intended for individuals and families who need temporary, one-time assistance to resolve an emergency situation.

Provides mental health and substance abuse treatment services for children, adolescents and adults. Also offers therapy, medication management, case management for children, adolescents and adults. Offers a full array of crisis intervention services for adults, including an Access Center, crisis stabilization/observation unit, and a mental health drop in center.
