Offers medical grade pregnancy testing, limited obstetric ultrasound, limited sexually transmitted infection testing for females, perinatal hospice and miscarriage care, options education, pregnancy support, adoption referrals, and community resource referrals.

Provides resources to families including children's clothing, maternity clothing, diapers, wipes, and other baby items. All items are donated.

Offers a student education program discussing healthy relationship education in a variety of topics.

Provides free legal advice, brief service, and representation to low-income people. Type of advice offered may vary based on funding and may include: consumer law, family law, housing law, public benefits, disability benefits, employment/unemployment, public benefits, clearing a criminal history, and educational rights.

- Links clients to attorneys in their local area for free legal services in family law matters.

- Taxpayer clinics educate low-income taxpayers about their tax rights and responsibilities and how to file for low-income tax credit.

- Homeless Assistance Project (Douglas and Lancaster Counties) provides assistance with family law, child support modification, bankruptcy, license revocation, and disability claims.

- Migrant Worker program provides civil legal services to migrant farm workers.

- Housing counseling assists people who are homeless by making referrals and assessing their legal needs. Assists renters who are having problems getting things fixed, need help with landlord issues, or are facing eviction; work with HUD issues; assist home buyers or home owners with questions, etc.

- Also assists with: Bankruptcy, Foreclosure, Landlord-Tenant, Utility Shutoffs, Public Benefits, Unemployment, Family Law (including Divorce, Custody/Visitation, Child Support, Domestic Abuse).

County government offices.

Provides skill training in a structured learning environment to help people with developmental disabilities succeed in the workplace, home, and social life. 

Public health services and education.

Assists older adults to remain independent in their home as long as possible by providing an evaluation of the older adults' needs, developing a plan of care to meet those needs, and monitoring their plan to make changes as appropriate to keep them independent.

Care coordinators also provide an evaluation in the hospital or at home to educate individuals about their resource options prior to entering a nursing home.

Provides access to materials, including print, electronic, streaming, and downloadable items. Materials are available for circulation and in-house reference use. Also offers programs that encourage family literacy and children’s access to the arts. Computers are available for users to access word processing, resume writing, and spreadsheets.

Provides free tax credit clinics and prepares free federal and state income taxes for low to moderate income households.

Starting January 15, 2026, visit https://vita.unl.edu to schedule an appointment. Tax appointments begin Feb 1 and run through Apr 10 and are available at multiple sites in Lincoln. To see the days and times for all the locations, visit the website to download the site schedule.

When scheduling an appointment, choose a site location and date. All location will be face-to-face; virtual preparation is available in addition to facilitated self-assistance (schedule an appointment under the 'Need Assistance' tab).

If Lincoln Public School and/or UNL is closed due to bad weather, all VITA sites are closed.

The scope of work that can be done within the VITA site is defined by the IRS. If a return is considered "out of scope" for the site, VITA Volunteers will not be able to prepare the return.

Utility assistance for low income households, including the LIHEAP program during winter months.

LIHEAP aids qualifying low-income Iowa households (homeowners and renters) in the payment of a portion of their residential heating costs for the winter heating season, to encourage regular utility payments and promote energy awareness, and to encourage reduction of energy usage through energy efficiency and client education.

Provides Nebraskans with a centralized location for viewing their current benefits, including helpful links to take action on their benefits programs.

Nebraskans may apply online for multiple assistance programs, including:

- Healthcare/Medicaid

- Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

- Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

- Child Care Subsidy (CC)

- Aid to Dependent Children (ADC)

- Emergency Assistance (EA)

- Social Services for Families, Children, and Youth (SSCF)

- Refugee Resettlement Program (RRP)

- Assistance to Aged, Blind or Disabled (AABD)

Helps immigrant and refugee families apply for community resources, especially if those families have limited English. Programs include, Technical Assistance for the Community (TACOM): Housing assistance to locate government-subsidized housing, LIHEAP, and Immigrant Family Resource Program (IFRP): Access for programs such as food stamps and Medicaid.

Provides after-school programing which includes homework tutoring, physical activities and expanded learning opportunities.

Offers to help individuals develop abilities and skills to be successful in roles within their chosen living, learning and social environments.

Provides full library access and services. CDs, movies, and video games may also be available in addition to traditional print reference materials. Some materials may be accessed online using your library card. 

The following additional services may be available:

• Reference service and interlibrary loan
• FAX and photocopy services
• State and federal tax forms
• Meeting room available for community non-profit groups

Offers free distribution of men's, women's, and children's clothing. Can visit monthly.

Provides a food pantry to residents of the Prairie Valley Community School District. Can also provide emergency food by appointment.

Outpatient Services - Offers outpatient counseling, including family therapy, nutrition counseling, medical management, and psychiatric treatment.

Intensive Services:

- Partial Hospitalization: Provides a structured environment, three daily meals, group and individual therapy, and body image therapy.

- Intensive Outpatient Program: Offers outpatient support for patients who are able to support themselves at home as well.

Also offers ANAD Eating Disorder Support Groups.
