Accept Medicaid waivers and private pay. ADULT COMMUNITY SERVICES program for adults with autism uses an individualized treatment plan based on the client's needs. Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) offers free tax preparation and electronic filing for low- to moderate-income Iowans, starting February 2026. Baby supplies such as diapers, baby clothing, and formula, when available.

Offers a number of health screenings. Screenings can be scheduled for corporate events or individual appointments can be made during in office screening dates. Screenings include:

- Cholesterol/glucose blood tests.

- Peripheral artery disease (pad) screening.

- Blood pressure screenings.

- Personal wellness profile/health risk assessment.

- Bone density heel screening.

- Health assessments (body composition analysis, body mass index, waist-hip ratio).

Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD), most common in people over 50 years old, is a medical condition in which arteries in the legs are clogged or narrowed. To promote early detection and treatment, OSF St. Joseph Medical Center is offering PVD screenings to the community or business upon request. Classes, programs, and events can be viewed on website.

Provides individual and group counseling services for adults as well as independent mental health and psychiatric evaluations through workers' compensation. In person appointments are all done in West Des Moines. However, there is telehealth services in Ames and the wider Iowa community.

Provides information about job vacancies, career options, and employment offers. Services include job search assistance, interview training, referrals to other job training programs or support services. For a small fee, business may receive assistance with recruiting new employees, training employees, and connecting to information for managing a business. 

Provides support and training through vocational, residential, and day services to persons with developmental disabilities and/or related conditions.

Offers vaccines and information for individuals in need to answer questions, or misinformation about certain vaccines. Services include flu vaccines, COVID-19 vaccines, and other vaccines may be offered under this program. 

Provides practical information for anyone to access in the areas served. Education services include agriculture, horticulture, family and consumer economics, nutrition and wellness, and youth development. The website has information about different programming options available.

Offers the Adventure Pass, a program designed to help individuals and families check out area attractions for free. The pass can be checked out with a library card and allows free admittance to the Blank Park Zoo, Des Moines Children's Museum, Science Center of Iowa and the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden. The Adventure Pass must be printed when presented upon admission into the attractions along with a photo ID. Each pass allows admission for up to 4 people, including up to 2 adults and 2 children.

Senior centers provide a place for congregate meals, as well as social activities, games, educational programs, etc.
