Website offers information, tools, and links to resources that help people explore careers, learn about and locate training or education programs and conduct a successful job search. Portals are available for Veterans and ex-offenders who are looking for job opportunities and can be accessed through the Career One Stop website. Also offers information youth summer employment programs through the Get My Future portal.

Offers a free and confidential crisis line for veterans. Can also help with local suicide prevention coordinators, who can connect veterans to ongoing counseling and services in their area. 

General Assistance: Financial aid program that helps residents meet basic needs until employment or other sources of income, such as social security, disability or public aid is obtained.

Emergency Assistance: Short-term financial assistance to alleviate life-threatening circumstances or to assist in obtaining self-sufficiency. Available once every 24 months.

For those in the street outreach program must call in and schedule a time slot (only 4 slots per day), and one load of laundry limit. A case manager must refer them to this list to sign up.

Willis Dady Works - Offers shower/laundry - Mon, Wed, Fri 9 am-1 pm, first come, first served basis, no case manager necessary. 

Provides assistance to wartime veterans and spouses with emergency basic needs (medical, shelter, food, utilities, burial cost and special needs). Also helps with applying for compensation, pension, widow's benefits, obtaining military records, Federal, State and County Benefits they may qualify for.

Substance use treatments, including:

- Narcan and harm reduction supplies

- Residential Treatment: Rehabilitation services focusing on life skills and recovery.

- Outpatient services: Up to 24 hours per week. Consists of planning, ongoing assessment, psycho-educational and therapy groups, individual counseling, continued recovery plan.

- Medication-Assisted Recovery (MAR): Methadone, Buprenorphine, Vivitrol.

The college serves recent high school graduates, adult learners, youth and individuals seeking to advance or change careers. NICC provides High School Equivalency (HSE) preparation/testing programs that help students build the knowledge and skills comparable to a high school education. The college also offers English as a Second Language (ESOL) programs to support non-native speakers in developing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills necessary for success in academic, professional, and community settings. In addition, the college delivers workforce training, continuing education and short-term credential programs aligned with regional industry needs, helping students quickly gain in-demand skills and enter or advance in the workforce.

Offers professional therapists who provide individual, couple, child, and family counseling. Counseling focuses on a wide variety of issues including parenting, family conflict, relationships, depression and anxiety, issues of adult children of alcoholics, survivors of sexual abuse, and conflict resolution.

Offers art therapy.

Assists individuals, community organizations, non-profit and for-profit developers in rehabilitation, repair, and creation of projects that improve the condition of, or contribute to the development of both rental and owner occupied affordable housing in the four county region. Additional assistance will be available for first-time homebuyers for down payment, closing costs and, if necessary, rehabilitation in conjunction with home purchase. Priority will be given to projects addressing repair and rehab issues in aging housing that benefit low income level residents. (i.e. plumbing, electrical, roofing, structural, energy efficiency, lead paint issues and handicap accessibility). The Board will consider both owner-occupied and rental properties, with loan details varying depending on the applicant’s situation, as detailed in the program guidelines.

Offers to sell new and used home improvement materials to the public at discounted prices. All proceeds from ReStore benefit the mission of Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity. Donations: Materials in the store are donated from the public and private sector, and include such items as cabinets, lighting and plumbing fixtures, doors, lumber, flooring, paint, and windows. 

Offers services for substance abuse assessment that are organized around individual assessment in partnership with our customers to best meet their needs.

Provides immediate assistance to those struggling to pay rent or utilities through the Family Support Services Program.

Connects individuals who are experiencing life hardships to others who provide friendship and mentoring. Mentoring covers topics such as coping with grief, budgeting, or other life hardships.
