Peer Advocates are volunteers over the age of 60 who are available to help other people, age 60 or older, with a variety of situations, concerns, problems, or questions. Services include:

Rent Reimbursement - The Rent Reimbursement program is through DHHS. PEER assists people with filling out Online or Paper form applications. This is a one time, per year program, not a monthly or emergency rental assistance program, for those who meet eligibility requirements.
SHIIP - Can help do drug plan, MA or supplemental comparisons. As well as educate New to Medicare enrollees with process and how to get enrolled in plans.

Assistance may include: investigation and work to resolve the problem, information on laws and regulations, how to choose a long-term care facility or answering questions about life at a facility. Assist callers in level of care needed (info about nursing homes, residential care, elder group homes, assisted living). All services are confidential and free of charge.

Services include information and assistance, case management, congregate and home delivered meals, transportation, legal assistance, State Long-Tem Care Ombudsman and community-based services. The Department provides information on the senior population to any public or private agency, or to any individual interested in the issues of aging, upon request.
